You have the option to fire one of them tomorrow but you must keep the other for 3 more years. Who are you firing? Assume if you fire Archie that Fred is picking his replacement.

It's a close call. I'd put the probability of Archie winning a national title at 1% and a 2% chance Fred's next hire would win a national title. Don't worry about my math. T.M.P. ran the numbers for me. He's my buddy.
Fred will ultimately be judged on his two primary hires despite everything else he has accomplished. This time next year will be interesting.
Archie gotta go, Fred's mistake, but for 3.5 mill we need better. With the addendum that Fred's going soon too and not hiring Archies replacement

I’d have to agree. I don’t see Glass being let go because the basketball team (or football team) sucks. Hell, we’ve sucked at both for the better part 0f 25 years. Why would IU suddenly start firing AD’s for that?
Fred hiring Allen tells you he does not care at all about a winning football team. Fred thinks stadium renovations will bring fans to watch his losing football team.

There are no standards for winning at IU. Fred’s bosses don’t care about winning or athletics in general. Boosters and fans need to make noise.
