I want to say not since the 90s I know Patterson was a 5 star was Neil Reed?
Both Reed and Patterson were on the Mcdonalds All American team in 1994, Charlie Miller was selected the same year but don't think he played in it.
Came damn close in 2002 but Strickland dropped in the rankings (he was top 10 at one point) and Sean May went Judas.
The 1976 class had Glen Grunwald, Butch Carter , Woody, Derek Holcomb, and Mike Miday

Hanner ended up being ranked like #48 and I think even that was way too high. Typical raw big guy who never really developed.
I forgot about that yeah strickland was top 10 for a time. I suppose the class with calbert, funderburke, the grahams would probably of had like three five stars but they did not do stars back then.

Bailey came after that group.
Hanner was the worst basketball player ever to play for IU.
He won the 1990 state championship. So he was a 90 recruit.
Those are all mixed up. 89 class…Pat Graham, Greg Graham, Cheaney, Todd Leary, Chris Lawson, Lawrence Funderburke and Chris Reynolds.
90 was Pat knight and Bailey.

He was never serviceable. He was the worst basketball player in the history of IU basketball.
Bailey was the year after and we could of had Montross also but I guess Knight got into an argument with his dad.
Jurkin never saw the floor his legs were so skinny they looked like toothpicks. I remember seeing Hanner in AAU he made some good dunks but had no shot at all and was not nearly as impressive as I thought he was going to be. He was clearly way overranked.
They never played. Hanner played and played atrociously. Not to mention everything else that came along with him.
Yean and at one point he was ranked like #12 in the country so he was made to be something he never was.
The fact that they never played makes them worse basketball players than Hanner. I would also add Lander below Hanner.
Lyndon Jones and JAY Edwards but I don't think they had stars then.
I think Calbert was the lowest rated of that class as I remember? Maybe not Leary a late addition but the rest of them.
Never saw the court. Hanner shot an airball in a game that missed the rim by 8 feet.
I was always under the impression that Leary was a ploy to get Montross and ultimately backfired. Montross and Leary were teammates and good friends at LN.
I remember that...it was a very impressive miss to say the least!
If it is not debatable why is it being debated? I am confused (again) by this board.
Aside from Montross not coming and leary's later legal woes I wouldn't say backfired. He was a really good shooter and played quite a bit.
