I wouldn’t accept you as a patient. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes are vastly different illnesses that only share the same name because of high blood sugar. Where did I say that obesity and bad diet general sloth doesn’t lead to diabetes? I said that there is a higher risk EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT these other factors for Hispanics, Native Americans (injuns for you hillbillies) and black skinned people (won’t use the word you probably call them). I’m amazed at how knowledgeable people with a Google search engine claim to be. And guess what?? Even mighty Google can verify what I’m saying. But once again take your sorry ass to another doctor please
You need some emotional regulation.

You know nothing about me and assume my knowledge comes from a Google search? Wtf with the bolded parts?

You brought in race. Do you have type 2 statistics for non lazy, non fat, non poor people who eat non shitty food? Only real way to control for race.

So you’re a MD/PhD and a bunch of other letters. WGAFF? Until you prove you’re not an idiot, I have no use for your dumbass comments

For one I can read. Not difficult to understand common ailments. No credentials but a BS in Bio and 15+ years experience in micro laboratory work in food and pharma. I have been accepted to Bulters online pharmacology program so exploring that option.

MDs and a bunch of other letters doesn't make them experts. Plenty of things they don't know.

Google it. Quit being a dick. I don’t link because I have no social media sites at all (thank God) and have no mechanism to link. Nor do I want one
Not being a dick - just asking what evidence you have of that. If it's empirical, just say so.

You don't need social media to google.....

Any genetic predisposition is due to people in that family tree also being fatty boombatties with diabetes. The rest is environmental and dietary.

You are a clown dude. I respect your medical opinion zero because you’re an idiot.
I don't think he's entirely wrong.

Yes, diabetes (type II) and other conditions are caused many times because of obesity, some populations are more prone to obesity. I'm thinking of Samoans, for example. Is it diet or genetics that cause so many to be so overweight. I think that's the question and I don't pretend to know the answer.

The dude lacks self awareness. Apparently doesn't realize he's posting on a social media site, one that doesn't even need a mechanism for providing a link. Just copy and paste url and click reply.

Then it wouldn’t be hard for you read and possibly even understand that diabetes risk goes beyond lifestyle choices. You’re either stupid or you don’t give a shit

I meant I can’t link. I can Google. It’s not empirical. I meant by 25 years of experience that I’ve attended hundreds of hours of medical education and spent thousands reading peer reviewed journals. You could find out link between American Indians and type 2 diabetes in about 1.2 seconds if you’d try

No, because he doesn't need no stinking statistics and research - he knows it all already.

And don't you dare try to discuss it with him, unless you agree with him.

I am technologically ignorant beyond belief and don’t care to learn what isn’t important to me. I literally have no idea how to copy and paste on my phone and couldn’t care less to learn

Some things are shades of grey. Fact is fact unless Trump says it’s not

Do you know how to copy and paste?

I am well aware of Type II diabetes in certain populations. It's rampant in mine, who are mostly German in ancestry. Many family member have died of it. But we all grew up on my grandmother's fried chicken and gravy every Sunday. And other fried foods the rest of the week. And not all Germans get Type II diabetes.

I don't know of any study that says genetics alone are responsible for diabetes. If you do, cite it.

Literally just typed “genetic risk for type 2 diabetes” into Google. Try it

You can usually press your finger and highlight what you want to copy and his the 'copy' button that appears, or do a cntrl-C.

Then go to this site and reply to a post and hit cntrl-V to paste it.

Damn. I can learn 😂😂

Type 2 diabetes has a significant genetic component, with estimates of heritability ranging from 25% to 72%, but lifestyle and environmental factors also play a crucial role. Family history, especially a history of diabetes in both parents, increases the risk.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

Genetic Factors:
  • Heritability:
Studies suggest that type 2 diabetes is a polygenic disease, meaning it's influenced by multiple genes, with heritability estimates ranging from 25% to 72%.

  • Family History:
Having a family history of type 2 diabetes, particularly if both parents have the condition, significantly increases your risk.

  • Specific Genes:
Researchers have identified several genes associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, including TCF7L2, ABCC8, CAPN10, GLUT2, GCGR, GCK, and SLC30A8.

"But diabetes isn't just caused by genetics. "

That came up in your recommended search.

You think I haven't researched this myself, with my family history?
Did i say diabetes was ONLY genetic? Damn damn damn it’s like arguing with a fvcking orangutan

Be curious to see how many are US citizens.

The funding cut probably affects their stipend/salary? Pretty vague poll with unanswered questions

Sure. At best it’s some sort of an indicator, but in general not the direction we want to go as a nation. Our educational emphasis nationwide on science and engineering in the late 50s and early 60s rocketed us to the forefront of the world, among other things.

I remember working in pharma in the 90s and the company acquired rights to one of the early morning after pills.

There were organized protests by many antiabortion scientists (myself NOT included), protesting the decision...

because many scientists were religious, conservative, and right leaning back then. GOP politicians were pro science, back then. They had not yet declared all of science to be part of some liberal conspiracy of woke indoctrination.
