I have no doubt whatsoever that any mayor/ politician would want to steal publicity by associating with an athlete, so no one should be surprised if a mayor makes time to participate in the announcement. But I think the mayor would be a complete jerk if he said yeah, OK, I’ll participate in the announcement but only if you’re going to IU. That doesn’t seem like a position that would win him votes.

If you really discovered some valid clues where he is going, can’t everyone else (including the Langfords) see them too? If the family is intentionally dropping obvious hints now that rule out Vanderbilt, then why not go ahead and make the announcement now?

It’s interesting to read these recruiting-related posts, but I see no advantage in theorizing to this degree.
