New Trier is a different level though, so I'm not surprised.
BTW, just was downtown (River North) and I'll make a couple of comments:
- Tons of homeless people around, laying on sidewalks, digging through trash cans, begging for money (more than I remember previously)
- Construction is out of control - everywhere was a mess
- Traffic worse than ever going both to/from ORD and MDW (Kennedy, LSD, Stevenson, everything)
- City felt more normal during the day and night, although I was only walking around at ~10:30pm or so
- Restaurants are still great (new 101 Club was pretty good, Adalina was great, Gibsons Italia...)

As long as it’s campaign funds and not taxpayer dollars. Fine by me. Black people are less than 30% of Chicago residents. You wouldn’t know it from listening to BJ or Lightfoot though. If we could just get the 22-35 year old block of male big ten grad renters to vote, progressives would be screwed. But it will never happen.
This goes to show though how campaign expenditures is a very fast and loose game. With miles of grey. Anyone that try’s to claim they can discern from the outside what should’ve been a campaign expense and what shouldn’t have is selling you a bill of goods.
