Biden meeting in NY with Adams where violent crime, like in many blue cities, is out of control.

So you would agree that the one 'expert' that made this claim provided zero actual information to back up her opinion, but just said that was her opinion?

And you would also agree that Fox took that 'sexy' and divisive statement, with no facts to support it and used it as the headline to feed the sharks?

And you also believe that there's only a SINGLE factor in play to explain the increased homicides and it is, of course, the defund the police movement? Which, btw, hasn't really happened to any measurable degree and certainly hadn't happened in the thick of things in 2020.

Instead of the 180 degree pivot, we got the 360 degree hokey pokey...and that's what it's all about.

Could this be the early stages of the Clinton/Obama pivot away from the left and back to the middle; the Biden most of us expected and were okay with getting the big gig?

Defund the police as in reduced funding absolutely occurred. So too did a precipitous decline in the number of cops owing to early retirement and resignations at levels never seen before as a direct result of anti cop rhetoric, Dem policies, and the summer of love. That's not debatable.

The reports indeed identify the 12 cities as Albuquerque, New Mexico; Austin, Texas; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Columbus; Indianapolis; Louisville, Kentucky; Philadelphia; Portland, Oregon; Rochester, New York; St. Paul, Minnesota; Toledo, Ohio and Tucson, Arizona.

But the blame here is misplaced – most of those cities did not substantively cut their 2021 police spending as part of a defunding initiative.

Here's a look at 2021 police funding in each of the other cities mentioned in the news reports:

Someone trying to pin a single cause on something with no facts/evidence is just effing dumb, which is par for the course for some of the most demonstrative posters on this forum, such as @dbmhoosier. It just shows a complete lack of intellect.

Diverted funding is the same thing. The bottom line is cops on the street. Are there more or less. Police departments across the national saw a decrease in beat cops as a result of allocation shifting, early retirements and resignations as a result of Dem policies and/or summer of love anti cop rhetoric

But it had nothing to do with increased gun sales, the pandemic in general putting people in more challenging and stressful lives?

Only a couple of those examples were of diverted funding. Others increased spending or the diversion of the funding was merely a change of org structure for the 911 operators, as it pointed out.

Of the 6 cities, 6 INCREASED police spending and a 7th was the shift of 911 operators from being in the PD to another department, so not a real decrease but an accounting one, mostly.

Those are all Dem cities with Dem mayors, yet the spending went UP not DOWN.

So explain how those facts jive with the Fox News article that was linked and also your assertion that increased homicides are a result of a straight line drawn from defunding the police movement?

I didn't read the article. I'm familiar with the topic. Homicides and violent crime went up as a product of a number of realities: the pandemic, reallocation of resources, bail reform, cops retiring and resigning and not going through the academy, etc. And of course guns are an issue. Cori Bush still supports defunding the police in the most dangerous city in America. Progressives are soft on crime. They find other excuses for it, many of which are true, but ignore the importance of police presence. We've seen it time and time again.

Ahhh...you didn't read the article.

So again, the FACTS presented that I shared specifically debunk half of the examples held up that you agreed were all part of a defund the police mentality. Nevermind the FACTS that the police were not defunded in those examples and were, in fact, funded more.

But hell, facts don't support your view, so ignore them and continue to hold those views. Which, btw, are probably true on some level and in some cases....but this broad brush bullshit that you and many others (both sides) paint with is a big part of our political division and inability to find common ground.

No. I've literally read hundreds of articles on the subject and looked at primary source data. It's been hashed and reshashed in hundreds if not thousands of posts on here with countless articles linked. This isn't an issue of first impression. It's why Biden is now saying FUND the police. Sorry you're late to the party

Biden was never in favor of defunding the police. Any suggestion that he was is misinformed and or a manipulation of facts.

He can read his approval ratings. At some point he'll recognize only the most partisan and those living in the retaliatory DC bubble care about Jan 6. That everyone else cares about carjackings, schools being open and teaching core shit, and the price of gas and hamburgers. To not pivot is to risk a bloodbath in Nov
Did you notice Hickory laughed at your post? Manchin & Sinema are on an island all alone. The looney left democrats are in charge. The party that discover 200 genders and teaching us to understand pedophiles.

Biden has taught us all about pedos and your party doing nothing about it. I wonder if the FBI lost the Biden Diary like the Biden Laptop?

That is a load of crap. They would do something about it if there was any truth to it.
