Auburn Game Thread

Only matters to the net but hey. Let the naysayers and the experts tell you differently. Lots of them show up to say I told you so.
Issue is we will lack any quality wins outside of conference if we need a resume builder after conference play

We just have too many guys playing in roles they aren’t ready for. That kills the competitiveness. Cupps might be ready for this in yr 3. MM could start next yr, but he is starting because there is nobody else. Gunn and Banks are improving, but not ready to take these roles on a competitive team. I think our big rotation is good. But at guard and wing, every good team is going to be much better.
So this mess is on recruiting.

We go .500+ in the B10 and we're potentially in. We'll see. WI is getting bitch slapped by Ariz right now and PU barely got past unranked Bama. This team has a long way to go but when they're focused and play 100% they are a tourney team.

X being out hurts quite a lot. It has a domino effect that only amplifies some of the things you mentioned.

Even when he isn’t playing “good X” basketball, he’s a good defender, and capable ball handler. Which takes pressure off Galloway, and obviously Cupps doesn’t have to be the main lead guard for long stretches.

We wouldn’t have beaten Auburn today, most likely…but I bet it would have been a much better game.

Broken record…but Woody unnecessarily messed with the momentum. And after he did, the edge and confidence they started with was gone. After that, they played tentative and lazy. Can’t ever do that. Against someone like Auburn…it’s suicide.
I don’t honestly think he has any clue about momentum. He really did initiate a disaster. And he’s done it time after time. Suicidal against a bunch of front runners like Auburn.

“Lazy” Ware rears his ugly head for the first time today. Is this a preview of coming attractions when he has to face some adversity?

Well PU has plenty of quality wins so far lol. Marquette, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Xavier, bama.
Wisky: Virginia, Marquette, MSU

What else does he bring other than another guard. He hasn’t done anything here to say he changed the team.

Nasty foul by Cardwell on Ware. Someone should have got in his face. No T, just let him know it’s not acceptable.
Soft teams don’t care. Reminded me of the Colts game last year when that jackass from the Giants hurt Nick Foles and did snow angels while Foles was screaming in pain. Not a single Colt even paid attention. Loser mentality.

IU can be competitive in the outdated, ass backwards Big 10. The problem is IU will just run into an Auburn in the NCAA's that is more athletic and better on offense.

Quality losses count too but you knew that right? It’s early. Let it rest. It will be ok.
Do quality blow-outs count?

I'm not sure what you've been saying in this thread.

IU has played two good teams so far this season and hasn't really been competitive. That's a problem. I don't think a person is a "naysayer" to point that out.

We didn't match there toughness. That's where w need a leader like X. This ass whipping will help us in conference play. But I'm afraid our ceiling is a bit lower than previously thought. Ware and Mgbako not rising to the occasion.

That's kind of a straw man argument with Purdue. I do agree we should be better than UW and not denying our recruiting sucks. We got lucky with Mbako but are reaping not getting a quality guard. I'm not sold on X--never was.

Barely getting by (6 points is barely getting by?) is much different then being blown out by 28 points.
IU has had a problem with consistency, especially/specifically the lack of drive for years

They count the same as any quad 1 or 2 loss. I figured the experts knew that?

None of us have any clue what he or his staff are thinking on the subs. My guess is he is very stubborn. He believes in the strategy based on his own coaching experiences. And he doesn’t have 2 obvious NBA guys like TJD or JHS to play 35 minutes a game this year.

Despite that, absent foul trouble or injuries, you don’t need to play more than 1-2 subs at a time in college.

It is fairly early in the season…so he probably deserves some grace for playing more guys. But again, it can be accomplished without the hockey subbing.

We’ve played 2 NCAA tournament teams…the results haven’t been good. Today, we’re not close to an NCAA caliber team. Good thing there’s 3 months until selection Sunday.

12 points and 4/5 assists…🤦🏻 not to mention defense at the point of attack. You really can’t smell your own halitosis.
You are an odd duck to support this shit show today. You are arguing with everyone on here. We are not a good team with or without X. I’m not an X fan, he hurts you as much as he helps. If we had 1 more guard we wouldnt even know he was gone

What makes you think X is a leader??
It's not really that hard to see who is the floor leader when he's in the game. Talking, setting up the offense, demanding the ball against pressure.

This team gave up pretty much in the first half and then mailed it in when we had it to 11 and Auburn answered. Auburn almost shot 50% from 3. Agree on inconsistency.

What’s a straw man with PU? They have won those games
