According to the Indy Star, along with Cigs big raise, IU has doubled the annual salary commitment to the assistant coaches from $5.8 mil to $11 mil. This is 2 1/2 times what CTA's coaches made and barely less than OSU who reportedly has around $11.43mil. This is a pretty huge piece of news to say the least. Cig should easily be able to keep a fantastic stable of assistant coaches when this kind of money to spread around.

And/or attract top talent when we do lose guys. That is incredible news! Thanks for sharing.

And I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bryant Haines offered an HC job. At the end of the season it’s clear that his defense proved to be the most consistent snd best side of the ball. Right now, our defense is CFP ready and can keep us in just about any matchup, but our offense is struggling some and needs to be reestablished.

Ball State job is open. His Alma Mater. He will make more as an assistant here but does he want to become a HC.

I would say it’s guaranteed he will get a head coaching job.
These guys work their whole career to get a head coaching job so the bump in salary most likely won’t keep him here.
Where it will help however is finding a good, experienced DC to replace him.

I just hope he’s back for one more year. Fisher, Kamara, and Ponds will all be back next season and our defense could be very special next year with that core group returning.

The big need on that side of the ball is replacing NG CJ West, no easy task, but easily doable with our record & NIL.
