Could it also be that downtowns are ghost towns these days? I wouldn’t call Indy unsafe, but it is certainly dead. A lot of zombies roaming the streets.

Dead? How so? All the new housing being built? All the restaurants opening/reopening? All the festivals/events every weekend?
I'll give you Circle Center Mall, but most malls have outlived their usefulness.

I'm reminded of Yogi Berra's famous, "No one goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
