Two changes:
--S Elijah Sabbatini committed to Ole Miss, as expected
--Added OL Max Merril from Houston. I had not noticed anything about him before. He is an interesting recruit. He has many offers, including IU, UL, AZ, Colorado, Purdue, Duke, Memphis, Boise St + Ivy League schools + all the service academies. 247 lists IU & UL as the leaders to get him.
Our competition for Merill would be Duke and Vandy.
I wonder how the staff feels about our recruiting this year? It seems like from a player rating perspective, we have got some nice verbals. I am anxious for 8/1 where Sales and Freeman are slated to announce their commitment. Hopefully both will select IU.

Changed Sales and Freeman to IU commits. Added IU interest in Deonte Anderson, FL DE. Changed Cole Nelson to a VT commit, Mitchell Evans to a ND commit. Obviously Nelson would have been big for us. We never seemed to have a good chance with Evans, but I kept hoping there.
I've added a list of 'best other offers' of the IU recruits to date, at the conclusion of the 'interested' list. These schools were those listed by Rivals only. I don't know anything about the accuracy--example, I don't know how valid Bama's offer to J. Williams was..........
Nice to see some Purdues, OSU, Michigan, GT, VT, WV, UL, UK, NEB, MO, MSU, VA, TENN, WASH, NC, Iowa, BC...that's my perfect IU list.

I've added Hatcher as looks like IU has a realistic shot there.......do you see anything from Dean that gives you some hope? Looks pretty clear that he'll go to GA or some other SEC school.....
I've also added James Yelbert, a 6'6" 230 lbs DE from Delaware......he looks like a reach or sleeper, depending on how optimistic you want to be. He does have a nice frame, but IU is by far the best offer he's had to date.
Yelbert also went to his first ever camp last month. Id say that has more to do with his lack of offers than anything
Added WR/DB Jaquez Smith out of Atlanta......looks like a slot WR candidate if he commits to IU.........
Some of the HSN posters think we have a decent shot at getting a commitment from MJ Daniels.....that would be huge if it comes to pass.
Another little thing I saw......Purdue has offered Ty Buchanan, the OT from Texas.
He's buddies with Smith I believe. There's chatter they want to play together.
Still need another OT and a DE though.

Also, 7' OT Harlan Obioha has a final 3 of AZ, IU & Iowa St.
Took a trip around the internet and couldn't find much of interest to IU fans recruiting-wise. WRs Raheem Roberts & Cameron Wright seem to be firm Memphis recruits. We look to be out for DB D. David & DE D. Townley.

Wasn't Smith nationally ranked at 1st?? Like, 185th in the nation, I think it was? Now he's not. Is it my imagination, or has his ranking dropped? Still a 5.8 rated 4*, but the bonus points are gone.

Yup, I was right(unfortunately). His composite ranking on TOS has dropped, so he was demoted by Rivals. The IU "dump", I calll it. Penalty for committing to IU. What all do we have to do stop that nonsense from happening?
Not surprising that it happens when you consider the # of views on this forum v. those for the big-time football schools........they're going to give the customers what they want.
? Yes, bonus points. You get bonus points for recruits ranked in the top 250. Look at the Rivals player rankings & how they're scored.
An expert on TOS admits that he dings high ranked players when they commit to traditionally weaker schools, which is obvious anyway. His reasoning was that he has to assume those players will not develop as well as they would at a better program, therefore his ranking reflects it.

I would suggest he's not being honest as to his motivations.
I think a given highly-regarded recruit at an IU or a Purdue has a better chance to reach his potential than the same recruit at an OSU or PSU, for several reasons. Most importantly, he will get on the field much earlier. Additionally, if he doesn't get on the field immediately, he has less chance of getting recruited over. Finally, teams like IU/Purdue (or even Iowa/Wisconsin) know that they have no chance of competing without serious player development. Teams like OSU/PSU know they have talent......they have to be concerned about keeping their talent happy.
Not much different for the IU/Butler basketball dynamic the last 20 years.
Saw a article on Rutgers FB yesterday, quoting Robert Jackson "Rutgers is recruiting him the hardest" Not sure how that will spin out for the Hoosiers

Also added highly touted Jailen Weaver, 6'9" 300 lbs, from Antioch, CA. He's always been on IU's readar. He now lists IU, Nebraska, and TN as his final 3 choices.

Also McGraw at PSU? Fans there are hating on Franklin right now. Problem is, he's their only DE recruit right now, so he might like that situation.
Yes on PIke kid, McGraw DE at PSU and for sure the Center Grove DE that people seem to be saying is the next Bosa Brother like talent? Would be a great Indiana Haul if they could get all of them or at least 2 of 3?
