Just one correction . . . Jordan Grier is from Ellenwood, GA, not Ellenward. Cedar Grove High School. Good program with good competition there.
Oops . . . looks like Grier is on Arabia Mountain High School's roster now. That's located in Lithonia GA . . . hmmmm . . . .

Hope we get a good hit from this list of the ones IU is really eager & excited about.
Really want him, for sure. Not just for his talent but also for the statement of keeping homegrown talent at IU.
I'm not sure we're in need mode for him though.
I'm not sure who's on the radar for next season, but if we don't hit on a quality QB this season, it'll certainly be a big-time need next year.
The Issue for a top QB for the future is over with the commitment of McCulley to the Hoosiers. IU now has three QBs rated in the top 15 of the country as QBs.
Took a trip around the internet for IU football recruiting today, and did not find much....
I did update the list with commits elsewhere on four of the listed players.
Also, perhaps of some interest...I note Larry Smith III is rated 48 in FLA by Rivals, 81 by ESPN, and 203 by 247....hope Rivals is right on this one.
One of the kids I've taken a shine to from watching his film is Baron Hopson. He has highlights up from his Fr. year, lots of arm tackles and leaving his feet to make tackles. Seemed like a pretty big red flag for me.
But his Jr. year tape was so much improved in those fundamentals areas. I'm not sure I buy that he's actually 5'10" & 220, because he doesn't really look like it. But if he his, I'm lobbying for him. He's got some good offers so it's not like he's a sleeper. I'm just a huge believer in an 3* who is underrated because he's 5'10" instead of 6'3". Not saying he'll be a gem like Mullen was, but I'll talk an absolute baller like that who's a couple inches too short and a few pounds too light if they're a 4* talent in a 3* body.

I would suggest splitting list into uncommitted, committed to iu and committed elsewhere
Taking a look at our Rivals offer lists, her are the # of "undecideds" for various positions (other than QB):

So I'm thinking......won't take any interior OL or ILBs. Nor any TBs or DTs unless they're too good to pass up. Will take lots of little guys who can run, on either side of the ball. And OTs. And 2 DEs if we can get them. And at least one OLB. I'm a little surprised we're not looking at more TEs. I hope we have a shot at the Evans kid out of OH.

I hope with what scholarships we have remaining we have the ability to be selective.
Clay Millen, the CAL QB we offered, committed to AZ. I liked him a lot based on reading about and watching his highlights
They definitely want another TE, but it's not an emergency type need right now. Hendershot & Bjorson are jrs. Then Ivy and Cooper are underclassmen. That WO from Ohio (Daugstrap?) might end up being a sleeper that is able to help at some point. TE is a lot like QB for me this cycle, I'd prefer to see them land a good talent this year, but if they don't the heat will be on to get someone next year that can contribute as a 2nd year player.
You can add Cole Nelson SDE from Johns Creek Georgia to that list. 6’3” 230.
I will......have you heard anything about he and IU in particular? I see we're 1/9 he is considering......looks like VT has always been the favorite, but he tweets that his commitment date has been delayed until July.
I've added 4 additional names of prospects we appear to have a decent shot at. Also, Jordan Grier lists IU & KSU as his 2 top teams.
IU just offered lately but has been on him for awhile. Typical IU that they should have offered a long time ago. I know VT is supposedly on top but not exactly sure that’s the way it is. Have seen him play and he is a stud who would fit in well at IU.
Added Latrell Fordham, a 6'4" 180 lbs WR out of Michigan who originally committed to BSU in '20, then spent 1 year at a prep school in CT....best other offer is Cincy.
You guys remember a couple years ago when we got multiple commitments over a couple day period? Seemed like every time I checked the site there was another verbal. Good times
247 has a great article on Cole Nelson and what he thinks about IU. I think all you have to do is read it and you’ll be impressed with the young man. Sorry but I can’t copy and paste because we have poor reception where we live and this is done on my phone.

We are coming off an 8-4 season and aren’t getting much down. Meanwhile, Louisville has 18 commitments and the #18 class so far. They had 2 wins in 2018.
Smells like $$$... Whenever I see teams come out of nowhere and start pulling in everyone they want that's my first guess...
What's hurting is the loss of the Florida connection......only 1 Florida commit in the last two years.
Illinois has 6 recruits right now from Florida......3 are guys we probably wouldn't take, but 3 others are 3* guys with good offer lists.
The Penix class was amazing, obviously, and likely not repeatable, but the drop-off has been damaging. We do have a ton of offers out to WR/DB types, so we'll see how it plays out.
Impressive highlights............looks like a guy who would get a lot of time for us by his 2nd year.
That's with 0 kids from Kentucky.
They have 4 from GA, 4 from FLA, 2 from NC. Damn.
Added Terrance Anthony, 1 6'1" WR from Orange Park, FL....as of 6/12 he had a final four of Virginia, U Conn, App. State & IU.
Seems to me we don't have much of a chance at Montgomery....
We have 9 recruits, maybe 17 positions.

Added 6'1" MISS safety Elijah Sabbatini to the list......we are in his final 8.......apparently we REALLY want a safety or two out of this class..........
I trust the staff’s judgement but that’s not an incredible list of other three schools there is it?
It would be interesting to me, on the wish list, which players IU coaches feel are in the A group, B group etc. Which they are awaiting commitments, prior to moving on to the next option. I get that feeling with Edwards, the Safety from Georgia.
Yeah this is semi-concerning to me.
We've got four upper classmen this year (Ziemba, Bryant, Head, & Swann) that should be able to anchor the DE spots in '20 & '21. Then there's Passmore & Robbins as RS-FR, Murphy as a true FR that will probably RS & Jones coming in as a FR in '21.
You always want more depth, but I wonder if there's something they're seeing from the current crop that's pushing them to keep recruiting DE so hard.
Non-commits are now arranged by position......ok. I'm bored......
At WR, it appears our current commit Jordyn Williams is highly regarded....Burgess, from Riverside GA, not Riverside CA, as I had before, is really good but it doesn't look like we're at the top of his list. The 3 WRs listed here all appear to be B list guys.
After I wrote this I saw a 247 report on Burgess....said the schools recruiting him hardest are Florida St, GT, Indiana, SCarolina, Tennessee, and Troy. Said most schools are recruiting him as a WR, some as a S. Said he'll announce in late June/early July. On tape, he's Whop-like.....maybe a little bigger and thicker, not quite as elusive. The odds seem long, but he'd be a great commit if we could get him.

It's so hard to pick out what we'd like to see at this point considering the (still) relative youth of the team.
A good LB pick up would be nice. Lineman are always useful to have in the cupboard (I think they're doing a nice job on the OL side overall, more so if can land Sales).
I like where the receivers are in terms of numbers & youth. So maybe focus on DBs? Or an athlete who projects as a DB but is willing to play a season or two at RB early to provide depth until they're really needed in the DB room?

Perhaps a little thin when you consider injuries, early departures. Seems like we've got the strider types. Maybe need another slot rec or two? L. Neely-Watley & J. Swinton are 2 guys listed as DBs who could also be slot receivers.
