Here are the B1G standings going into the final games...

If I've got it right, if both Purdue and NW win tomorrow, we have to beat Iowa in the late game or we are out of the tournament. A Purdue loss tomorrow against MD in a 1 p.m. (ET) game on the BTN would put us in even if NW beats Minn tomorrow. I believe that if both Purdue and NW lose tomorrow that a Husker win would put them in the 8th seed with IU in the 7th seed no matter what we do. An IU loss, a Purdue loss and a NW win would put NW in the 7th seed with us in the 8th seed. If IU wins and PSU loses tomorrow, PSU would have the tie breaker over us for the 6th seed even if we didn't play them and I believe the tie breaker on that is the record against common opponents. I can't help but think about that blown game against the Gophers where we lost on that 2-run homer in the 9th in the last game of that series, then we blow a 13-2 lead last night, and now we are reduced to this. I hope I got this right and if not, maybe someone can help.

oddly this got no press at all: $577 million dollars allocated for pandemic preparedness therapeutics research

The NIH has established nine Antiviral Drug Discovery (AViDD) Centers for Pathogens of Pandemic Concern. It's not specifically for COVID-19 and there is no vaccine research, just therapeutics. The antivirals will target specific viral families with high potential to cause a pandemic in the future. These include paramyxoviruses, bunyaviruses, togaviruses, filoviruses (including Ebola viruses and Marburg virus), picornaviruses (including enteroviruses and other cold-causing viruses), and flaviviruses (including the viruses that cause yellow fever, dengue and Zika).

The objective is to find new classes of antiviral drugs with the potential to curb future epidemics before they can become widespread. So... there is a local outbreak. You send the drug there and stop it in its tracks and nobody in the general public even realizes the bullet that was dodged.

One special emphasis is to target entirely new mechanisms for intervention, some that might be broad-spectrum antivirals. For instance, targeting the viral-specific enzymes that unwind DNA or RNA hairpins to make replication possible. Each of the 9 centers is actually a consortium of dozens of professors, typically doing research in multiple large universities, research institutes, medical schools, and research hospitals. All centers have already established ties to pharmaceutical companies that will advise and progress compounds to trials.

This has, in my opinion, been the most forward-thinking expenditure that has yet emerged as a consequence of the pandemic.

The continuation of funding will be merit-based and milestone driven. Any centers not performing will be canned. Top performers will be funded beyond the initial 3 years.

Woodson on TJD Coming Back

“I’m hoping like hell he comes back, because he’s a big piece to the puzzle.”

IU@Iowa, Game 2: Iowa 12 IU 0. IU gets thumped in a total team effort...

RHP Jack Perkins is on the mound for IU with an ERA of 4.75 in 72 IP and an OBA of .217, while RHP Dylan Nedved is on the mound for Iowa with an ERA of 3.90 in 57.2 IP and an OBA of .198.

In games that are in progress as I post this Purdue trails MD 7-5 in the 6th. Ill and PSU are tied at 1-1 in the 4th, while Neb and MSU are just getting started was well as NU and Minn.

In IU's 1st, Whalen strikes out to lead off. Jessee walks on four pitches to put a runner on and one out. Pyne strikes out looking for two outs. Mathison flies out to end IU's 1st.

In Iowa's 1st, the leadoff hitter reached on an infield hit after the ball took a weird bounce that Glasser couldn't field quick enough to get the runner. Here we go again as the next batter gets a single to put runners on the corners and no outs. IU gets a DP but the runner on 3rd scores. A two-out double puts a runner in scoring position with two outs. Perkins then walks a man to put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Perkins gets out of the inning with a K looking. Tucker had a shaky 1st yesterday and settled down, so hopefully Perkins can do the same since we need him to go deep into the game today.

Poor Loser Trump -- loses again

Of course, Trump never wanted to win this suit -- he just wanted to raise hell and delay things.

He doesn't understand or accept that other people (like judges) have the right to make actual decisions concerning his affairs (unless, of course, they already agree with him).

Save America, Republicans!! Vote for Trump!!

(Rebuttal posts that mention "Liberals, "Democrats," Progressives" etc. are going to look stupid, so go ahead and post them !!)
