IU has four players on the All-Big Ten Freshman team...

Ellis was on the All-Big Ten third team. Pyne, Mathison, Tibbetts, and Goforth were the representatives on the All-Big Ten Freshman team which consisted of 14 players with IU's four freshmen on it being the most of any school with the next most being two players each for MSU and Iowa. Doanes was the IU representative for the Sportsmanship Award. Here's the link to Alec Lasley's article on the the home page.

Anyone else cutting their own hair?

MInes pretty easy, as they just use a guard and sheer me like a sheep pretty much. I have some clippers I use for manscaping and trimming up my neck hair and plopped on the longest guard and proceeded to have at it. OK with the results, but it was a little shorter than normal. Tougher to trim my neck, but I've gotten by with that too with mirrors. Thinking about round 2 tonight, I hate when my hair starts to feel bushy. Anyone else taking matters in to their own hands or having a spouse get after them?

Mike Woodson checks all the boxes during first full offseason at college level

Mike Woodson has been busy this offseason in his first at the college level. Check out my piece on it!

Trayce Jackson-Davis returning to IU as a leader both on and off the floor

Trayce Jackson-Davis is back, and he's here to be a leader. Piece from his Monday press conference.

I think my golf game is back! When I played this morning, I had a +1 37 on the front and a +6 42 on the back for a 79.

It was the first time I have broken 80 since 2015.

Our foursome won the front, back and total and my two birdies helped us in the two-best ball format. I also had a skin for a birdie on the second hole.

Why am I playing better? My drives are about the same as usual, but I am hitting my irons much better and my putting is at a new level. I believe I made at least four putts that were 10 feet or longer.

Golf is fun again!

How long until China invades Taiwan?

"It's our view that they (the Chinese) are working hard to effectively put themselves into a position in which their military is capable of taking Taiwan over our intervention," Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

I’m guessing not long. Just a matter of time, imo.

Joe Buck Wtf. Has he been cloned

Not to rag on a local who is a genuinely nice guy and IU alum but damn. He's doing PGA now?!

Also Tiger looks huge. Like a linebacker. As someone who lifted heavy free weights for 30 plus years I bet we will soon find it's not the smart way to train. My back is like the tin man. Tiger has had so many problems. At one point he was benching 350. Contrast Tiger with Tom Brady's body. And Brady is playing football. Totally different weight training approach.

Lastly the 1/2 zip is horrible

Will Mercer pull the plug on our pitching coach after just one season?

  • No, because it's the players that can't pitch, not the coach

  • Isn't going to matter because Mercer won't be back anyway

The pitching has been awful all year, but we just gave up 30 runs in a game we lead by 11 runs.

Kentucky's High Schoolers are not Caliparied

Well, OK, here is my annual pitch to remind true basketball fans (especially the ones who wrongly think basketball has been ruined by the AAU and McDonalds and NIL) that excellent basketball will once again be on display on June 11 at Southport Fieldhouse.

Duh, it's the 82-year-old Indiana/Kentucky All-Star Game.

82 years??? Are you kidding me?? That's about 13 times how long most of the Water Cooler's regulars were able to stay married their first time (and for some of them the second and third times, too).

Also, 82 years is about 5 times the duration of several European
governments since WWI.

There must be a reason an event has lasted this long. In all the games I attended in the past, the kids that play in this game have played their asses off in this game. You will definitely see defense and sound coaching. They will hit their foul shots. They will get pissed if they commit turnovers.

No Kentucky players will show the cowardice of Calipari to even show up at a game in Indiana. Both sides try to win the entire game. If you love fundamental basketball, you won't be disappointed.

What Will Make Next Season a Successful Season?

Now that the roster is finalized, but the schedule is only partially known, what must IU accomplish in order for you to view it as a marginal success and resounding success? Last season, I thought we would be a Top 25 Team...and then we finished 9-11 in the B1G, with seven of those B1G wins coming against the bottom of the B1G. Even so, we won a couple games we shouldn't have in the B1G Tournament and made it to the NCAA Tournament and won a game, so most would label it a success. Marginal, not resounding.

For next season...

Marginal Success: Top 4 of the B1G & Sweet 16

Resounding Success: B1G Champion & Elite 8
