Thoughts after 2 exhibition games

6-25 from 3 will only go as far as we shoot from 3.
This ⬆️.

After two games--albeit exhibition--it's fairly evident this is Woody's deepest, most talented team. However, I think 3-point shooting will continue to be an issue (rinse, repeat).

As you allude to, the difference between being a good team and being a contender is the 3-point shot. If the Hoosiers' perimeter shooting mirrors Woody's first three seasons, '24-'25 will be disappointing. Yes, Reneau and Ballo will 2-point opponents to death at times, but the ceiling is capped if IU doesn't shoot the 3-ball at a decent volume and percentage.

When I voted the other day in Bloomington I had two people at each station to assist, as I made my way through. Presumably, they do this to check that it’s being done correctly. And frankly, it’s the same process as everyone goes through, so by repetition these workers should be well informed by processing hundreds each day. Also, it’s not rocket science if everything is setup and organized correctly from the start.

There has to be a D and R at each station to insure no shenanigans. The exception is there is only one inspector.

The day of election is more the problem. The vote center might well be staffed by people who work in the office. But day of requires a lot of people, people who show up after just the 2 hours. Now some may have worked previous years, but not all.

Even at the center theyake mistakes. The HT has an article about a student voting Day 1 being told he could not vote. Turns out he was a legal voter. In addition, he should have been offered a provisional ballot and wasn't.

There are a lot of questions that come up. Can person X help me vote? I moved yesterday, where do I vote? Is this an appropriate ID? When we used to have machines, how to know they were working. When we had paper ballots, if the form says use an X, is a checkmark allowed?

At some point election day, a list of names will be read off of people who voted remotely (probably absentee) after the poll book was sent out. The clerks have to go in and mark people as having voted. I will suggest that somewhere in the state someone is marking the wrong line.

Thoughts after 2 exhibition games

let me start out by saying Marian looked like an average HS Team

Ballo- Love him so far. Fills the middle. Rebounds, plays D, hangs around the bucket.
Rice- Best player on the team. Lighting quick in transition and can shoot.
Tucker- Only played against Marian but unlike Mgbako, a true 5 Star. He can shoot outside and create his own shot.
Goode- Very confident in his shot. Great form. One thing....the ball hasn't gone in yet
Mgbako- Looks the same as last year. We will see if he improves.
Galloway- no comment, injured. He might not get minutes if Tucker keeps getting better
Cupps- Can't play passive this year. Rice will take all his minutes
Reneau- He's looked really good. Would love to see him develop a 10ft jumper.
Carlyle, James, Newton, Hatton- remains to be seen
All opinions and I agree with many of them. I’m not as high on Ballo, but we shall see how he does against B1G competition. I hope he is a very good banger for us.

As for MM, he looks a lot better to me. Much better on D and looks more explosive. And he still has a nice touch. He might be our best player, but he has to pass MR and Rice.

I will hold judgement on Tucker. He played against HS kids against Marian. But looks very promising and he will have some struggles against good B1G comp, but if he adjusts, watch out.

Rice is super quick and a really good handle. If he can be a threat from deep, he might be our best player.

TG will be a great player for us, doing whatever is needed and I suspect his 3pt percentage will go up to the 40% range without having the pressure to score so much.

Goode finally broke the seal and I hope he can drain some serious deep shots for us. If not, he should ride a lot of pine.

Its really hard to root for OSU....

No need to worry about other teams as IU has to keep doing what they have all season.
False, if Penn State wins, they and Oregon have weak remaining schedules and in a 3 way tie of undefeated teams, IU is 100% the team left out due to how far back we are. I've already done the math. We need OSU to give Penn State the loss and if IU beats OSU, we're in the B1G title game and I would think IU would be favored. Considering Oregon won by 1pt at home against OSU and in this scenario, IU would've won at the Shoe.

Smerconish was talking about not turning singular irregularities into something more. He was quoting someone else, saying that we have voting locations that will average double the foot traffic of a Starbucks. These voting locations are one day popups. The workers are woefully underpaid.

Let me add undertrained. For decades I worked, we had a 2 hour training session, that was it. It had no role playing, no job shadowing, nothing. A person at the front lecturing. Your average Starbucks employee is better paid and much better trained.

There is a margin of error on election day. Do we think every Chick-fil-A balances every register to the penny every day? There will be precincts not balanced to the vote.

Your opinion doesn’t matter when it comes to conservatism.
My opinion is more valid than yours. I’ve been a conservative for much longer. I also know that there isn’t a great deal of conservative about Trump and understand that being a conservative Republican does not require supporting Trump. Don’t get into this “you’re not conservative, you’re a Democrat” bullshit again. It’s very stupid and tiring.

Is anyone for Micah Beckwith?

You always talk about the imminent civil war, true or false? Doesn't it sound like he just jumped the gun.
False.

Like most of your gabble.

I've posted verifiable historical information regarding the two previous civil wars, and numerous times about my anticipation for criminal bad actors in current government employ being held accountable.

Its really hard to root for OSU....

I don’t think it matters. A 2 loss OSU with a win over IU would probably make it into the CFP over IU. A 2 loss PSU with a B1G championship loss likely makes it in over IU.

I think IU needs to win out to make it into the CFP. Unless the CFP rankings are much different, our #13 ranking makes it challenging to leapfrog folks without winning out. A loss to OSU would have a lot of ppl saying “I told you so” and probably drop IU back to #15 again.

The other outside shot is 4 B1G teams making it but that is probably a stretch
Seeing what's out there in CFB this year the B1G should 100% get 4 teams in the playoff this year.

Its really hard to root for OSU....

OSU should be up 21-10 right now. Terrible ball security by their QB on that run. That is what is keeping PSU in the game. And, somebody tell me how a back judge standing 3 feet from that OSU interception in the endzone could not see that?

The QB for OSU has made two critical errors or this would be a blowout.
Yeah, OSU clearly looks like the better team today. I think IU looks much better than PSU too.

Hot take: Tucker is a better all around player than Mgbako. He looks more mature and more comfortable on the floor. Where I would call Mgbako a shooter I would call Tucker a scorer.
neither are lock-down defenders. but I give a pass to motherTucker because he is a freshman. they need to get better in a hurry.
but in the right offense with them both on the floor at the 3 and 4 spots = very interesting
