Thoughts after 2 exhibition games

Would someone provide a cogent explanation of how IU benefits from playing Marian. The exhibition against Tennessee gave both teams a baseline from which to measure progress. Other than minutes for TG, Tucker and Newton Marian gave IU nothing. MR scoring at will does not prepare him to score in the B1G. Wouldn't IU be far better off scheduling an exhibition against a tough mid-major? A practice with Butler would have far more teaching points than a game against Marian.

Polls - - a week out

It's incredible, isn't it? These folks have had their minds twisted so much that they are convinced that the other party is destined to commit political violence, despite the fact that it is actually their party with the recent history of actually doing just that.
Are you referring to me? Because I’ve been very clear about what I expect. I expect unrest regardless of who wins.

Aloha said there were no riots after the 2016 election. I pointed out he was wrong.

SCOTUS ruling VA

I've just never been presented an argument against Voter ID that I found terribly persuasive.
Me either. The only argument I ever hear is that it requires a person to do something. You have to have an ID for many thinngs.

I don’t understand why we can’t make this really simple: your vote and ID must be completed on or by Election Day. End of story. If you wanted to vote so badly, then you go get your ID. This isn’t rocket science.
Bingo....it's not complicated but the voter has some responsibility.

Many conservatives seem to be saying they are ok with legal voters being disenfranchised if it means no fraud, liberals will accept some fraud over disenfranchisement.
I don't believe that at all. I just want to make sure that they are legal and I don't think it is that hard.

Smerconish this morning

It’s a very good point - which is why it’s a mistake to use absolute language in talking about elections.

There have always been and will always be occurrences of voter fraud. That does not mean that it’s rampant or that it’s affecting the outcomes of elections. But it’s also wrong to suggest it isn’t something we need reasonable safeguards against. It will always happen, but we can and should do things that make it hard to pull off while not making voting a laborious thing to do.
To be fair, you're gliding right past a major aspect of the point he's making: tiny examples of honest error can and will happen, but none of them are necessarily fraudulent. They are just mistakes.

Vote totals always change when they do recounts. Why? Not because they caught cheaters. Because there were honest mistakes.
