You punks that want to kick boomers.

This thread is not about our superior music. It is about the time we endured.
You want to talk about enduring something? Your generation came of age in an era that saw the sexual revolution, drug use, tight sexy clothing and the dawn of birth control.

Gen X? We had AIDS. The very thought of sex was the thought of death. Say No to Drugs campaign. And the Grunge Era gave us baggy jeans, oversized sweatshirts, and flannel shirts. On women.

I hate to admit it as I know it’s very nonwoke, but I love Gone With the Wind. Probably read the book 3 times and have seen movie literally dozens. And quote Frankly My Dear I don’t give a damn more of then than I should . Oh and tried out for Thespians with Lawdy Lawdy Miss Scarlett, I don’t know nothin about birthin babies. At least I didn’t do it in blackface.
It’s a fine movie. Just not a good date movie

Yeah I knew all of them weren’t Motown, just didn’t know which.
Best band in Motown was the in-house studio band. The Funk Brothers. They did a majority of creative work on compositions while the performance clowns got all the notoriety.

Saw a documentary about them. A shame they didn’t get more credit.

Not just that but thr Iranian Hostage Crisis, the recessions of 1980, 1981-82 impacted our childhoods and teen years and 2007-2009 affected us as adults, Beirut, "The Day After", The Challenger Explosion, WTC Bombings 1 and 2, Gulf War 1 and 2, the decline of manufacturing and on and on.

I'll call you and raise you one Real expectation that we were about to experience Nuclear Armageddon, right down to the date and time (10am central Indiana time):

Cuban Missile Crisis October, 1962...

We all still went to school in a Big F U to the Soviet Union... ("you can't scare us")

My father (USMC) deployed in anticipation of the Invasion of Cuba and told me before leaving that I was now "the man of the house" and he expected me to take care of my mother and sister (with the not so subtle indication that he might not return)...

// What do we Win??? Respect?????
( I won't hold my breath... ) // 😉😎🍺🇺🇸

Marshall tucker is my pop’s favorite
They're touring this summer.

We went to see them circa 94-95. They were playing after a Dallas Freeze (Dallas's minor league hockey team that played at the Fairgrounds Coliseum) game, on the ice.

Made it through like 3 songs before their equipment started melting the ice (I guess) and sound/speakers started cutting out.

People started throwing beer cans on the ice, and the band just quit, and walked off. 😄
