You punks that want to kick boomers.

And we faced down the eve of destruction . . . .and won.

COH, the Boomers and all the American taxpayers along with members of the military helped bring the Cold War to a what we hoped was a close. The taxpayers forked over 9 trillion dollars, and the military lost 100,000 lives in Korea and Vietnam.

As to having won, GHW Bush who was president at the time of the Soviet Union collapse was careful not to perform a victory dance. This article describes Bush's actions following the collapse as follows...

Bush began relations with the Soviet Union cautiously, taking time to study the situation before moving ahead with more diplomacy, according to an essay by Stephen Knott, Professor of National Security Affairs at the U.S. Naval War College. The pause or “pauza,” as the Soviets called it, made the Gorbachev regime initially uneasy, but ultimately helped solidify the improved relationship, Knott says.
Bush showed even more restraint in November 1989, when the collapsing communist regime in East Germany opened its borders and Germans spontaneously tore down the Berlin Wall. Instead of reveling in the end of communist rule, Bush told the news media only that he was “very pleased.” His muted response resulted in criticism from anti-communist conservatives in the United States, but he avoided antagonizing the Soviets and endangering future relations, according to Knott.

And Steely Dan, Dire Straits, Marshall Tucker Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Traffic, Cream . . . .
And I’ll add an obscure group - Blue Cheer.

Loudest ever. Greatest rendition of Summertime Blues.

Put on the album Vincebus Eruptum and turn it up.

I can...
Pearl Jam
Nirvana
Alice in Chains
Smashing Pumpkins
Beastie Boys
Rage
NIN
Public Enemy
Wu Tang
Daft Punk
Radiohead
Chilli Peppers
The entire Hip Hop Genre

He also conveniently left out the Eagles on his boomer list. Thrusting that shit bomb of a music group on the world is far more egregious than a million Taylor Swifts(who's actually good BTW).
Love the Eagles, by the way.

Yes. And a good argument could be made for your second question.
Wow. I’m a cynic but that’s HOF cynicism right there. Kudos.

I have to believe the basketball gods will eventually release us from this damn purgatory and IU will rise again. Their cousins, the football gods, finally relented. So, it’s time.

Meanwhile, in today’s USA Today, I have to read a puff piece redemption article about Kelvin Sampson. Barely a mention of IU. Never a fvcking uttering bit of remorse from that POS about what he did - not just the calls and continuation of the violations at Oklahoma but the drugs and academic crap - that led to IU’s decision to obliterate the program.

IU’s decision to obliterate the program is its own mistake and not Sampson’s. You don’t cooperate with the NCAA. They’re not an institution worthy of deference.

Elvis, more than anyone, charted the new direction of music.
Agreed, but I think longevity had a lot to do with it. Buddy Holly was on stage for only 18 months or so and had truly an outsized impact on music. Jerry Lee Lewis and Bill Haley broke a lot of barriers that others took advantage of. Many blacks advanced the genre, but performed in relative obscurity until the 60’s

I know I'm in the minority, but the way IU and Crean handled the transition was stupid. They could have kept the players they had (some very good ones) and eased into recruiting different types of kids and imposing more stringent drug testing, discipline, etc. on the kids we had.

Right. They influenced boomer music. And boomers bought their records.

Technically, I’m not a boomer either. But I bullied those snot nosed boomers when I was in Jr. High.

I always pictured you as an AC Slater type (you're too old to probably get the reference, but the younger guys will understand)

Brad, always cringed when Coach Knight referred to his players as "kids".

Since in Knight's way of thinking they were kids in respect to having a great deal to learn about playing winning team basketball, I should have known better.

Univee, with today's NIL and transfer portal recruiting it seems to me Kelvin Sampson was a coach ahead of the times :).

You just don't get it though...

WGAF if he cheated or has a bunch of druggies if they are WINNING? Life is about results. Nobody cares about how you got there.

Karma and god are inconsistent at best, and at worst, completely faux.

Aren't you the one who proclaimed you didn't care about the effect on any norms, the law, etc. as long as they got Trump?

No, I didn't. I wanted to get him, by any (legal) means necessary. With Trump, the norms don't apply, because his transgressions were so far outside the norms that there were no past precedents (i.e. norms) to apply.

Speaking of past precedents and norms, Trump’s germanic ancestors may explain a lot.
