And he had the best player in the country for 2/3rds of those seasons. It's 100% his inability to coach at this level. He's always going to be one of ours.... but he has to help us look out for the program and walk away.
And similar to Crean's 3rd-5th years (since he gets a pass for his first 2 seasons) 28-26. Mediocre/bad seems to be the only type of coach we have our eyes on now.

Zero doubt that he needs to go. He had plenty of time to build a roster for success and has failed. If we had more than one great player coming, I might rethink. But it’s a no brainer.
IU will owe him over 12 mil after this season. He isn't going anywhere. There's been 20 years of mediocrity. That is the new culture at Indiana. And its a profitable one for the university. They won't consider anything else until it is unprofitable. That means fans keeping their money in their pockets.
Allen didn't get his whole buyout: coach has to mitigate buyout. Woodson will get $6-8 million.

Allen was likely to get another job somewhere, thus eating into what we would owe. Woody is at least a threat to hang it up completely, and thus more likely to command >75% of the owed amount.
Let's look at this from another point who would hire Woodson if we fire him? Who was going to hire him if we didn't hire him? Enough said.
