Not only were these prosecutions politically motivated, they almost certainly backfired on the people behind them.

They were a misguided idea from the start. That’s not to say all of them lacked merit (well, NY’s did…that was absurd).

But just from an optics standpoint…especially considering that one of their major themes was that Trump would use the power of the presidency to prosecute his enemies.
