Well could be worse

We could have mcneeley going for 18 and 10 for us while shooting 50% from deep.

At least Mikey saved us from that.

We played a game tonight and this is your observation? and lol at UCONN's opponent (Sacred Heart?)

So the kid wanted to go play for, gulp, UCONN and the best coach in America? Can you blame him?

Its possible the reason McNeeley isn't at IU...Had 31 for us last night, and completely dominated the game on both ends of the floor.

I'd love to have both of them, obviously. But there are more than a few rumors out there that Mgbako falling off NBA draft boards was a big factor in McNeeley wanting to look elsewhere.

Maybe, but I don't think you have to overthink it. Hurley has it rolling at UConn and the opportunity to play for him in their system is going to be appealing to guys, as has been emphasized to us a couple times in recent memory!

He had that same opportunity when he committed to IU in the first place. No one on here likely knows exactly why LM switched to UConn. But IU's team being a dumpster fire last year, AND Mack coming back, are probably pretty likely reasons.

That would be a logical explanation if that was what happened. However, he didn't simply leave IU just to switch to UConn. He decommitted from IU, and then was recruited by UConn. He left IU because he didn't want to play for this program and that was it. Now why that was, we will likely never know unless he decides to detail that for some reason. It could be for Mbagko, could be Woodson, could be the state of the program as a whole.......we just don't know. But UConn wasn't the reason he decommitted, it was IU.

imho, MM coming back had very little to do with the decision.

Could be...lots of rumors disagree with you though. Kind of a smoke/fire thing, to me.

The gist of what I heard...The McNeeleys began "asking questions" about Mack being back, and how Liam would be utilized next to Mack roughly mid season when it started to become evident Mack wasn't gonna be a first rounder. As time went on, Woodson got tired of all the questions, and answered them less frequently.

My interpretation is whether that last part is true or not...the answers the McNeeley's were getting, and what they were seeing on the court, weren't jiving with what they were told when he was initially recruited. And they made the decision that Liam, next to Mack, in Woodson's system...wouldn't be a good situation for Liam. And they used "lack of communication" as a scapegoat type answer, to not bring Mack's name in to it at all, or to crap on Woodson's offense.

Just conjecture...based on what I think is probably pretty solid 2nd hand info.
