It seems to me that all the preseason talk from teammates about Myles quickness may very well be because the rest of the team has a serious lack of it (quickness not down the floor speed).
Lateral quickness and effort are so important to defending and rebounding.
I think there is a serious lack of it on this team magnified by the lack of coaching to help alleviate it😩

MR and Ballo and Mbwako to an extent…make the lineup very unauthentic.
MR plays with cement in his shoes. I would play Hatton more just for the fact he plays with energy

I'm a fan of MR and think he's improved his post offense game since his frosh yr. That said, he's not the explosive type athlete that TJD is. Not even close. TJD had quick feet and tremendous hops (both in terms of vertical leap and quickness in getting off the floor). MR doesn't have either. It shows in his very modest rebounding numbers, and lack of blocked shots. Just is what it is, some gifts are natural ability/genetics.

I go back and forth with MM and his defense. Sometimes he's moving his feet, doing a decent job. Then there are some plays where he looks like he doesn't give a shit. Other times when he goes into outlet/cherry pick mode on D when a shot goes up, rather than going towards the basket. Shows in his rather humble rebounding numbers as well. Overall if we hadn't bought 9 months of Ballo we'd be getting murdered on the boards every game.

Riley, the freshman at Illinois, is putting up impressive numbers. Typical Calipari press conference after Illinois game.
