Vindman

Read the link. All offers were made during one visit, for Zelinskyy's inauguration, where Vindman was part of the American delegation. Each time Vindman said he had no interest. He immediately reported the offers to intelligence brass. An American citizen being offered a foreign government job is obviously a concern, and indiates the bumbling nature of Ukranian politics. I guess on the odd chance Vindman would have accepted, it would not have been hard to make him a citizen. But he isn't...
There is a concept in Persian culture called Taarof. It reminds me of this. Then the question is on what basis the offer was conveyed. The Ukranians had some reason to believe that he would accept the offer. I'll concede that I cannot prove he is a citizen. I can only observe his behavior. At the minimum he has a very strong affinity for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian official who extended the "offer" said it was a joke. Vindman, too, viewed the situation as "comical" but, as you've noted, immediately reported it.

Vindman came to the US as a three year-old. He's a decorated (including the Purple Heart) US Army combat veteran. He was on the infamous call Trump had with Zelensky, and had the balls to take on Trump for trying to extort Zelensky. The Trump cultists have been trying to smear Vindman as a POS - - with dual loyalties - - ever since.

Well he claimed it was a single passing comment. That's a bit different than Vindman's account. Strange joke to be restated 3 times.

Pure ignorance. You fall for the effort of Trump’s supporters to misconstrue and misrepresent Vindman’s origin story.

The Vindmans emigrated from the Soviet Union, not Ukraine. They were Ashkenazi Jews from a majority-Russian-speaking Soviet city. He was born in Kiev, yes, then part of the Soviet Union. Ukraine did not exist as a free country until 12 years after they left, and so he never held "Ukrainian citizenship".

In the 70s some Soviet Jews were allowed to leave the country, provided that they renounce their citizenship forever and pledge never return to the U.S.S.R. After his mother died, his father, an engineer, applied for and was give an exit visa for himself, 3 children, and the children's grandmother. The exit visa required them to go to Israel, though Israel allowed program "dropouts" and permitted them to relocate to Italy. Once in Italy, the father worked to get permission to emigrate to the USA, and Brighton Beach, which had a significant Russian immigrant community.

Alexander Vindman’s master’s degree, from Harvard, is in Russian, Eastern Europe, and Central Asian Studies. He later served at the embassies in both Kiev and Moscow. His older brother, Leonid, who became an investment banker, married a Russian art historian from Moscow.

His military honors include:

Legion of Merit
Purple Heart
Defense Meritorious Service Medal with bronze oak leaf cluster (2nd award)
Meritorious Service Medal
Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters (4th award)
Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters (3rd award)
National Defense Service Medal
Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
Korea Defense Service Medal
Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (4th award)
Valorous Unit Award;
Joint Meritorious Unit Award
Navy Unit Commendation
National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation
Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.

He is a recipient of the
Combat Infantryman Badge;
Expert Infantryman Badge;
Ranger Tab;
Basic Parachutist Badge;
the Presidential Service Badge; and
Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.

He apparently has no history of debilitating bone spurs.
How about asthma, which got Biden out of Vietnam?

Interesting I don't see him having any breathing problems today.

Vindman said he had no interest in the position and wasn't even sure if Danylyuk was serious about the offer. He immediately reported the offer to his commanding officer.

If you believe he was offered the position, you're even dumber than Hickory.

Damn, the military hands out medals like candy nowdays.

Except for the Purple Heart, which was described by GQ as being caused by an IUD ( https://www.businessinsider.com/alexander-vindman-was-wounded-in-combat-gq-story-iud-2019-11?op=1 ), those are pretty common medals for anyone deployed over a career.

I'm not denigrating his service. But let's not act like he's Audie Murphy.

One time or three, he didn't take the "offer(s)" seriously and immediately reported it/them up the chain of command.

As I said, your baseless speculation and intimations are part of a bullshit narrative intended to smear a decorated combat veteran who dared to take on Trump for trying to extort Ukraine's president.

This was basically a troll post, as I figured it would trigger a lot of the usual suspects. And this is an entirely unserious board that borders on parody, most days.

Didn't disappoint. I don't give a shit about Vindman.
You got a funny way of showing it.

Vindman is a confirmed Democratic operative, improperly contaminated the Schiff-led house intelligence committee, then lied about it, for a single-minded political purpose. The only troll in this thread is the OP.

I never knew military honors made one immune from partisan politics.

One can be a decorated soldier and be highly partisan.

I have no bone to pick with Vindman on Trump, but I don't find Vindman credible in any regard. He spreads baseless and fake news on social media. E.g. he claimed that Gerasimov was fired.

These are dangerous claim for someone in an apparent position of authority to make. And I say apparent because of the multitude of media appearances he makes.

He wants American boots on the ground in Kiev. Americans strongly disagree with this position.

It would be interesting if Biden calls Ukraine and offers them aid if they investigate Trump. I would find it as entirely wrong as when Trump did that. But some will strip gears to suddenly find that behavior wrong after so strongly defending it.

IIRC Vindman has worked with the Lincoln project, a Republicans against Trump organization, which doesn't quite fit the description of a "Democratic operative"

Yeah, because real Republicans push Democrat agendas

No, he tweeted that others had REPORTED that Gerasimov had been fired, and discussed how important it would be, if true.
What others?

This was his tweet thread:

At the time he tweeted this I found absolutely 0 reports of this. So who exactly is reporting this? And he tweets this a short time after Putin meets with Gerasimov to increase nuclear readiness. It's really comical. Dangerous and irresponsible behavior.

Is he breathing though? He has had enough taxidermy work over the yrs for one to wonder if he is just stuffed

I conduct my own due diligence.

Questions for you: is Vindman a citizen of Ukraine or not? Would Ukraine offer a non-citizen the position of minister of defense?

I would be asking exactly the same questions if a person in a position of authority was behaving this way with the UK or Australia. It's completely unacceptable conduct.
Since you have done your due diligence, if you’d be so kind, how about simply linking to us your sources to the answers to those questions that you’ve already answered for yourself?

If you are calling me a Trumper, I have only ever voted for Democrats at the congressional and presidential level. I am probably the only person on this forum who sued the Trump administration. You are barking up the wrong tree.

Nope, you don’t even know that. In fact basically you know nothing of what you’re saying in this thread so far. Vindman’s behavior here can most easily be explained by a professional military man doing his duty.

I had researched gaining citizenship in a variety of ancestral countries. Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia. My relatives left way too early to qualify. Without verifying the exact requirements I'm 95% certain he would qualify based on more recent ancestry.

These too are from prior to Vindman's tweet:

Three is absolutely nothing to indicate that Vindman just fabricated the story out of thin air. Meanwhile, you continue to post like a fool.
