Trump is going to cut our energy bills IN HALF...

I’ve worked with enough people to tell you many have no clue.

The year the casino at Evansville opened I had a new client come in from Terre Haute. She had retired from Crane. The first time she went she won over $50,000 in slots. Of course she was hooked and continued going back. She had a stack of W-2Gs totaling over $150,000 that first year. It’s been too long to remember so my numbers aren’t exact. Anyway she thought she owed a bunch of taxes. She didn’t have her Win/Loss statement so we called the casino and obtained it. The Win/Loss statement showed net losses $90,000. She said great I only owe taxes on $60,000. I said no you lost $240,000. On the federal you can only deduct up to your winnings as itemized deduction and you owe state taxes on all $150,000. She continued over the years winning and net losses ate up all her retirement income each year. Eventually she lost her house and moved in with her elderly mom. She did finally stop going to casino.

This is extreme story but many folks have no idea what they’re making. I am guessing uber and others aren’t generating big profits when taking into account depreciation on their auto and all costs of operating (gas, repairs, insurance and license).

Since I’ve never worked with anyone doing it, I could be wrong and they’re making big bucks.
I’m not saying people are rolling in money who do it, but it’s a viable income stream. Again, no matter how foolish you think people may be, Uber drivers would not be doing it if it weren’t profitable.

The Uber deduction for tax purposes is super straight forward. $0.65/ mile which encompasses driving costs, gas, repairs/ maintenance, and depreciation. Tolls and parking are separate.

Cruz is a vastly improved politician since 2016 and that beard does a good job covering his oily, weak chinned face.

We haven’t seen the end of him running for President I would guess.

If, per chance, Trump loses, the Republicans will have a good many interesting candidates.

It would make politics fun again which hasn't been the case for sometime.

Just shows how out of touch he is.

My grocery spending is up 19% since 2020 according my apps. COVID spending has a great deal to do with that. While I don't blame Trump for what happened economically, there are two truths:

1) Unintelligent or dishonest conservatives blame Biden.

2) Trump wanted to double the stimulus checks and extend unemployment payouts. He didn't get a chance on the latter, but it still did happen under Biden.
Only 19%? What you eating, dog food?

What if the woman didn't consent to sex and still got pregnant.

14 states don't consider that a reason for abortion.

So you are conceding that we should ban abortion for 90%+ of cases, which is the % of abortions that are not because of rape, incest, of life of the mother?

Damn, Stoll. That's a sad story.

I'm guessing the majority don't make much money after accounting for the excess wear and tear on their vehicle. My son doordashed for 2 months and was breaking even after we plugged the allowance for mileage into the equation. I'm not convinced he kept track of all of it either.
But isn’t that the real expected outcome for big tech vs. the great unwashed masses.
Company store script was always a losing proposition.

Because it destroyed domestic production and NG prices went up.

Two things. First, over 100 oil companies filed for bankruptcy due to the pandemic. The industry was crumbling and as Yergin pointed out:

“This agreement goes two years, so it’s also meant to manage the inventories downward over that period of time,” Yergin said. “What this has done is averted what really would have been a disaster for the oil industry and I think it does give some stabilization.”

Second, from the article the oil exec noted from Fox Business: "Trump did not make any specific promises on behalf of U.S. production,..."

So there were no limits on the US or the Biden admin to ramp up production during this 2 year period. I see that as an opportunity for the US to gain market share and move from oil independence to oil dominance. Sadly, an opportunity missed.

Years ago my aunt was on that list. She snuck past the gatekeeper and lost something like $27k and wanted to know if she could sue 🤣🤣
Was this guy in Evansville the cause of Casinos doing better job tracking addicted gamblers?

It's not all about me.

I have friends that live in Kentucky and Tennessee that don't want to have kids and would be forced to if that happened to them.

I think of other people then myself and how it would affect them.
So, you're not affected, but you feel you have to stick your nose on other people's business.

Don't ever tell me you 'used to be a conservative/Republican'.

If they don't like it, they can vote to change it. Aren't you for democracy?

I'm good with a 15 week ban.

Anything sooner, I feel like, is a bit ridiculous.

I'm not sticking my nose anywhere.

I'm allowed to have an opinion, just like you are.

Why not a 14 week ban? Or 13, 12, 11?

First, the conception widow is about 6 days. That leaves 24 other days to have sex and greatly reduce if not eliminate conception. Second, traditional contraception is readily available and free at many places. Third, plan B is also readily available and is 87% effective in preventing pregnancy. Cost is low.

Adding 2 contraceptive options (condom and plan b) during the 24 days virtually eliminates the chances of an unwanted pregnancy. I believe women have the ability to control their own bodies for 6 days a months and use contraceptive options the other 24.

States also have a hand in gas prices. Both Federal and State governments can have their hands dirty. For instance two months ago I was paying around $3.65 or so in gas. Why is that?
I paid 3.25 yesterday. Last week it was 3.79. Why is that?

To this my wife would add that men should respect a woman's right not to have sex during those six days.

She also mentions men make the laws and women go through the child birth process. Not fair according to her.

“Men make the laws”. Not sure what state you live in Hoot but I find it hard to believe there are zero women in the state legislature.

Chicago Fine, don't hold me responsible for what my better half thinks or says. She does have a mind of her own.

Do agree with her that women are under represented in holding public office.

What laws have men made to force women to have sex during ovulation?

Agree it's not fair on birthing, but if birthing is a negative consequence of having unprotected sex during ovulation, shouldn't that motivate a woman to be even more diligent in protecting herself from said consequence?

Condoms and plan B aren't 100% effective.

If a woman takes a pregnancy test to soon, it will show a false positive. Some women don't have regular, timed periods, so they might not know they are pregnant until around the 15 weeks.

This article notes a study that more then half the women in it would have had a abortion sooner had they known they were pregnant.

I'm all for the women to have a choice, but there's limits to that. That's why 15 weeks to me, is an acceptable stopping point. You're fooling yourself if all women know what their ovulation schedule is.

Wife is accustomed to over sexed men.

Me.

My explanation concerning my behavior is all about genes, hormones, neurotransmitters, and her being too sexy. All factors beyond my control.

Somehow don't think she buys my explanation.

Using multiple forms of contraception can virtually guarantee no pregnancy: pill, condom, and plan b outside your ovulation window (and there are apps to track ovulation) at the same time.

I knew a guy with a very average construction job and he liked to play blackjack at the casinos. His wife would go too, and she liked roulette.

He told me he thought the couple should reduce their trips to the casino because they were going a couple times per week and losing $1,000+ or so each time they went. It was coming out of their credit cards.

I asked why he didn't just set aside a similar amount each week and buy into a mutual fund or bank CDs. He responded (I am not making this up) that (1) a mutual fund was just the stock market and he would lose everything if he invested in a mutual fund, and (2) he didn't want CDs because he didn't want to tie up his money that long in a CD.

What can be said in response to logic like that?
