Although I agree with @UncleMark that this whole thing virtually guarantees Trump will get off the hook, today serves as yet another reminder about how differently these two men addressed this problem: no search warrant was needed today, because Biden voluntarily submitted to the search.

No search warrant was needed at Mar a Lago. Trump's lawyers were talking with the DOJ after having already giveng up 15 boxes of documents. The DOJ said to lock the door - Trump did. The house was guarded by the Secret Service - not open to a drug addict living there.
The DOJ issued a search warrant due to pressure from the Jan 6 committee. It was a fishing expedition. A search warrant is supposed to be specific, yet they roamed the entire house all day in search of anything - with Trump's lawyer not being allowed to accompany them (did Biden's lawyers have that restriction?) and the security cameras turned off. Now why do you think that was.
Your attempt to minimize Biden's actions is just another regurgitation of Democrat talking points and a "Look - over there" attempt to deflect blame.

I've already weighed in. It's a cluster****. It's indefensible. The only thing Biden has going for him is he and his lawyers initiated the return and investigation once the papers were discovered. Far different from denying, lying, and obstructing. Of course, that will make no difference to most people and (as I said before) gives Trump yet another Get Out of Jail Free card to play in this particular case.

I'm sure it's discouraging to think you've FINALLY got Trump on something, based on media reports and Democrat faux outrage, and then find out your own side is doing the same thing.

It's amazing to me how the left wants to excuse Biden because he's cooperated. It's like saying as long as a person who robs a bank confesses and cooperates (after they're caught) it makes everything ok.

Hmmm . . . I don't think anybody's excusing him. Just wanting to wait until all of the facts are known before he's damned. And there seem to be significant differences from what Trump allegedly did. Margaret Brennan said today that total the amount of documents found in the Biden search was maybe 25-30, of which six were found on Saturday. Contrasted to this are the 33 boxes of secret documents that Trump got caught with.
What's maddening about the Trump story is he wants - expects - all the benefit of every doubt. He thinks he's beyond accountability.

Stoll and others want to claim it was because Trump was conservative and this shows political bias.
He was treated the exact same at first but he refused to cooperate.
Now if you want to say the political elites get favoritism on both sides then you have a point. But if you want to be like stoll and act like this is political bias, then bull crap.
If you see post #503, I tried to explain the difference and was clear that I think both broke the law. It seems to me no one really reads the posts but would rather yell accusations/assumptions that they think would make the other side look bad.

Give it a little time. They will have to put some focus groups together and study their reactions. Then do some polls. It'll be totally above board.
All evidence since Hillary is that politicians don't care about protecting national security information and they all get treated differently than the rest of us when they mishandle it. The best thing that could come out of this would be to tighten up the classified information protection processes for political appointees and politicians in the White House and Congress. It's dangerous and embarrassing and makes my job harder because I follow and enforce the rules. Next person I have to discipline for careless handling of classified information will probably bring this up as a defense. It won't work but I expect it to happen.

They should at least be fined. All of them and I would include the President and former President. I would support impeachment too. Their negligence is outrageous.
Absolutely. Presidents and gov't officials should only handle TS/SCI docs under the supervision of a security guard. Yes, it would be a pain, but if they're serious about security, that's what they need to do.
There needs to be a single point of responsibility for any docs removed from a security room/facility. If anything happens to those docs, it's on that person.
