Have you ever played Shogi before? I just started studying it last week because I am going to Japan this summer and would like to play while there, and perhaps shock a few people there

Which are quite easy for me. I have no idea how to properly open a game however?

No, I haven't. Interesting. I've seen the game before but never knew how it was played.
