The Serious Election Day Thread

MSNBC not calling it, but Maddow saying it destabilizes the world and increases the speed of the “end of legislatures” - her panel says economy will fail because Euro can’t trust the US and that Bannon says they want to get rid of the dollar.

Sheesh,
Because the 'progressives ' have been so right in their predictions!!!

Where's that loser, Aloha? Is he hiding in his basement, huddled in a fetal position?

Or are he and Bowelmania holding each other?
STFU DANC. I’ve made it clear all along that I’ll be fine no matter who wins. My opinion about Trump, MAGA and you has not changed, but when Trump is sworn in he’ll be my/our President as every president is. You’ll very likely remain the lying hypocrite you’ve been for the last four years.

I've been saying this since 2016 to progressive professionals. They don't want to understand. They want to blame those people.

But both sides need to do this, not just the progressives. #BraverAngels

But you've never accused them of being smart!!! 🤣

It’s looking hopeful for McCormick in PA. It looks like most counties now just have Provisionals plus 26 smallish precincts in Philly? A few counties in Central PA like Cambria and substantial R votes to count

This post is way out of line. If I were a mod, it would result in a vacation.

Mods?
I was going to delete the post but then I would have needed to go back and find all the posts between these two guys. If you go back and look the personal insults have been brutal going both ways.

I disagree with the insult in question as well as all the others. I would ask they both stop the insults now.

And that is sad. And Hilliary said Trump was an illegitimate president. We've sure gone downhill.
She conceded. She attended the inauguration. She never falsely claimed voter fraud. There is no equivalence. Well, I considered both of them unworthy of being President so didn't vote for either so there's a kind of equivalence.

That is all it has....
It's not DANC who should get the ban.

Ban? 😄

Could you imagine your self-realization being so far off, that you end up being on the clearly losing side, after years of confident crowing, only to be left with guys like Shooter and Bowl as your only compatriots?

Let him post in public in shame. 😄

Aloha I want to extend an invitation into MAGA and the Dream Team. We are a loving group and accept everyone.

If the left had known that Latino men were going to support Trump more that the Democratic candidate they would have had the national guard at the border to stop the illegal crossngs.

Minorities were and are disproportionately hammered by prices. And her idea was to roll out Beyoncé. Look we’re black!!!! And you love Beyoncé!!!!

Insulting

I didn't vote either. I know she conceded but when she said he was an illegitimate president I assumed she thought he somehow cheated to win.

OH-9 Kaptur leads by less than 1%.
CO-8 Caraveo leads by 1.5%
OR-5 Bynum leads by 2%
WA-3 Perez leads by 4%

These could swing towards the Republican because of the way the ballots come from Election Day voting. These late counts on close house races is frustrating

It's not hard to know what she was butthurt about. She was pissed about Comey reopening the email investigation 11 days before the election and about the Russian interference. These things are true, but she never claimed voter fraud. There's a huge difference.

@Aloha Hoosier is always welcome at our Annual. All military
You know military people give up a lot to serve the country. Being away from their family for long periods of time would not be fun. And being on a ship like Aloha was would be even less fun since you have nowhere to go. I'd feel like a caged animal. I've been to Hawaii and there's no way I'd want to live there.... too contained.

No shame here. I post what I believe is the truth. I don't lie to support one candidate or the other. Liars do that and plenty of liars supported Trump.

For sure. And yes Hawaii is great if you’re in the right spots. I know Hawaii probably better than anyone on this board. If there’s an episode of Dog I haven’t seen link it. Try me

I actually miss my time at sea. We do have good liberty ports too. ;)

I also lived in Hawaii for about 9 years all together (first ship and fifth ship and two shore assignments) and after the first year or two I loved it. Too expensive to live there now in retirement. I mean we could, but it wouldn't be in a home that I'd prefer. It would be the equivalent of a shack here on the mainland.

We were guaranteed to have a bad candidate win and we did. It will impact my personal life not at all.
It will affect many aspects of my life, especially my professional life.

My main focus these past 2.5 years has been on finding new antiviral drugs intended to avert future pandemics. We have leads vs. flaviviruses (Zika, Dengue), togaviruses (including Venezuelan equine encephalitis) and coronaviruses. Nothing to do with vaccines.

It was funded as a 5 year program. Then the GOP house cut off funds at 3 years. There are bills in the house and Senate to restore at least one year of added funding. It has no chance of success, now.

F uck Science. Viruses don't exist as long as you have bleach.

But I'm more worried about my daughters and nieces living in a world that devalues them and scoffs at the idea of climate change. Whoever thought hurricanes would affect the mountains of Eastern North Carolina? Oh wait, that was a Democratic science experiment.

I have read this site for years but seldom participating. For years it was home to relatively civil discussion of issues. It has devolved into a site now dominated by an exchange of personal insults and name calling under the cover of anonymous names and avatars. That is to say consistent with dialogue in this country.

I do not care for Donald Trump as an individual and did not vote for him, opting for none of the above. In my lifetime we have survived a significant number of character flawed individuals in the Oval Office, all IMO had at least some positive change during their term. IMO President Carter was the best person to occupy the office and probably the least effective.

This election was a clear call for a new common sense governance, we can all hope there is progress on this front. It would be nice if this site could return to civil exchanges about the various issues actually facing our nation.

I'm sorry, but you've been permanently banned from the Dream Team for this post.

We are pleased to inform you that you are on the radar of the WC Book Club, however.

What this board--and nation--need to move forward is for people like you to post in the manner you suggest and model it for everyone else. I truly believe that.

On the younger demographic vote, per WSJ:

Men 18-29
2020 D+15
2024 R+13

Women 18-29
2020 D+32
2024 D+18

The men are not super surprising, but the 28 point swing is. For women, holy hell, I would have lost a lot of money on that bet.
