The Serious Election Day Thread

Ignore the polls. Do the work. Did you bring 10 soccer buddies to the polls with you?
my soccer buddies, at home, from college, from pros, totaling probably 300 plus people, i would say are 90 percent dem. maybe 95 percent. they aren't with us politically brother

The only downside to that is you'd have to leave the country if you were over 65 as anyone under that would support picking every last scrap from your bones. Politicians would gladly bleed you dry and toss the carcass to the "voting" ages. You'd just be a wallet to be raided.
So like the over 65 crowd does now to the young, then?

damnnnnnnn early exit polls. 43 percent dissatsified with the way things are going in the us and 29 percent angry! Holy Shit!!! 7 enthusiastic and 19 satisfied. wow.
Yeah, but Harris is only down 4 to Trump on trust on the economy -- and only down 7 on immigration. Those aren't terrible results for her. Think of where they'd be if Biden was still running. He was down well into double-digits on both...and they're probably the top two issues driving the election.

and you can believe everything is dogshit but trump is incapable of fixing it and not the guy. That said for the posters “envy of the world” “economy is killing it” is not reflected in public perception

CNN guy supposedly said the 'right direction vs wrong direction' on early exit polls are so strongly toward wrong direction that it would be very hard for Kamala to win. Per a post on r/moderatepolitics. No source. No idea what state, county, nothing, seemed to be an aggregate in his opinion of 'polls'.

The early exit poll the just showed on NBC(I know fake news) showed voters most concerned about...
Our democracy - 36%
Economy - 30%
Abortion - 14%
Immigration - 11%
And then some smaller ones. Interesting that the economy is not #1.

Going to be a delay in results in Wisconsin. One of the tabulation machines in Milwaukee wasn't properly closed at some point, and now they can't be 100% sure it wasn't messed with, so out of an abundance of caution, they will be starting all over. So every ballot counted since 9 AM today is wiped out and being recounted starting now.

The "Right direction/wrong track" poll has historically been a very trustworthy measure of voter behavior, but I think that correlation has weakened in recent cycles as the results have shifted consistently toward "wrong track" no matter what.

Does the exit poll only count Election Day voters, or does it include some polling of early voters, too? Because if it's the former, those are really good results for Harris.

This morning a coworker asked me how I voted. This guy is a 60something openly racist homophobic redneck shitkicker. I told him Harris, expecting some pushback. Instead he said "Good man. That Trump is fvcking crazy."
Way to keep it serious. Looks like name calling is fine.

Not sure if this link will work. Saw it on NBC News Facebook page...

Yeah, I agree. More partisan divide in more recent years I think. And "wrong track' this time could mean vote for a woman/Harris. Or general dissatisfaction driving turnout. Plus Kamala won't get the standard share of blame for wrong track as an incumbent president would.

A Gwinnett County polling place that received a bomb threat, has been authorized (by a judge) to extend voting by an hour tonight. The polling location was down for an hour while verifying there was no bomb.

I think I will skip the TV tonight, until late. I was going to take a night bike ride, but it's raining. So I'll drink heavily and watch Netflix. Not even any good sports on TV tonight...

As long as it's fun, it's fine. The only thing that ruins this thread is partisan politicking. Look, we're not going to change each other's minds at this point. So stop trying.

The point was that this guy should have been a Trump voter, by all indications. I was surprised. This is not the first time a I've been fooled like that.

Okay, it's 6:00, so here's another traditional question: Whom are you watching? As usually, I'll default to NewsNation, but I'll get sick of Cuomo pretty quickly, and bounce around between MSNBC and Fox a lot. I can't handle CNN election coverage at all, and probably won't even glance at it except by accident.

Once in a while, BBC will probably be a quality check-in, too.
