The Serious Election Day Thread

Maricopa County

“As of just before 11AM, more than 90,000 voters had cast ballots in person today. Of those, 37,600 were republicans and 34,400 were independent. Democrats trailed with just 18,100 voting. Those numbers don’t include early ballot drop offs….a number we won’t know until later.”

Gotta be NC and GA right? GA precounts mail and early votes.

Then there are Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin with Pennsylvania being declared as early as 11 pm EST as happened in 2016 (CNN).

Not a big CNN fan, but upon surfing stations on election night have learned to respect John King.

Okay, it's 6:00, so here's another traditional question: Whom are you watching? As usually, I'll default to NewsNation, but I'll get sick of Cuomo pretty quickly, and bounce around between MSNBC and Fox a lot. I can't handle CNN election coverage at all, and probably won't even glance at it except by accident.

Once in a while, BBC will probably be a quality check-in, too.

Gotta watch MSNBC. I've got a thing for homely middle aged lesbians.

According to r/moderatepolitics Arizona early vote stronger than expected toward Trump. "Republicans +84k from 2020, +3.4% turnout Other +43k, -1.9% turnout Democrats -136k, -4.7% turnout". No idea if that's a partisan, the link to X already had a different post.

I've never/rarely watched newsnation but checking it out now.

Usually I switch between CNN and Fox because you just tell who's glum and who's gleeful which way the latest results are going.

NewsNation has done a very good job the past few years trying to fill that gap that CNN left behind when they switched to straight infotainment. But there are downsides. You have to listen to Cuomo and O'Reilly far too often, for example.

Dave Wasserman is on NBC tonight. Best in the business.

Harris campaign watch party is at Howard University.

Take note of what she values people.

Just hit that in my rotation. Rachel sounds like she ate her Wheaties in straight up espresso.

Oh yeah, she's pumped.

Did you see where people are handing out water and snakes snacks to people in line? If that was Atlanta instead of Philly they'd be locked up.

ETA: typo left visible, since I've been busted already.

This is an example of what I'm talking about. There are a billion threads for this bullshit. Take it there.

I'll leave this one post up as an example for what others should not do.

The second Election Day vote was only an overall +1380R as the Ds moved the needle a bit in Clark but the GOP is still strong in Washoe. A little slow out in the rural areas but could be a big afternoon rush out in the sticks. +47429 R probably heading towards 1.35 million if some more mail ballots come in. I think Nevada is at 1.229 million ballots right now. Probably around 100K in the last 5 hours for 225K to 230K.

I still don't think Nevada will be decisive, although for reasons you and I already discussed, this could be F*CKING AWESOME if it is, because it puts the tie in play.

Why would you possibly want a tie? That would take us directly into a constitutional crisis. I want a decisive win by either side to kill the losing candidate from any future campaigns, although I’ll freely admit your tie maybe is more likely!

NBC trying to justify the 72% dissatisfied number. I think that's a bad sign for Harris. Chuck Todd looks disheveled and nervous.

Trump is going to win pretty easily.

Because if it's going to all burn to the ground, anyway, I at least want it to be a spectacular blaze!

Newsnation, a Democrat operative who seems pretty reasonable is pleased with turnout among women especially also younger voters. Said both seem very big. Seems optimistic.

Cuomo said first batches of votes or exit polls show it's close in all swing states. He says the fact that neither side is claiming more than a percent or two lead tells him it is true.

Don’t know what that is but I hate most all of these people and I genuinely do think he’s watchable and likable
Elder is the big west side Catholic high school, in a blue collar area, that competes with the “recruiting” Catholic schools such as Moeller (Ken Griffey, Jr and Barry Larkin and Notre Dame coach Gerry Faust) and St. Xavier. Peyton Ramsey, IU QB, went to Elder.

As I’ve posted a few times can think things are shit and not believe Harris is responsible and believe trump isn’t the guy to fix it
