Desantis dropped out because he didn't want to split the Party, unilike Haley.
2024 was always too early for him to run - 2028 is his year. JD may want it, but I'd put my money on Desantis. VPs sit in the shadows for 4 years.
It's true that they're both weak National level politicians. That's about where the similarities end. DeSantis is highly competent. Harris is not.
Not really. Things starting going sideways early in 2016. So far there have been no "surprises" or "upsets". I was hoping we might pick off GA or NC and I could relax, but no such luck. I'm not real confident, but the blue wall is still standing. The polling seems to have been pretty damn accurate, and that it's a tossup.

Two things did DeSantis in: the juggernaut of Trump and the wanton lies told about him by the left media. One of those goes away next time.
The difference is marked. Going off the top of my head Desantis won gov by less than a point. In four years he branded same the free state of fla. Got out ahead of everything. Demonstrated remarkable competence in handling disasters. Then won re-election against a former Dem gov by 20 points. In one cycle 20 points. And if memory serves it was a historical margin. Converted Hispanics. And now. Where you see abortion a loser all over the country not in fla. He gets out ahead of stuff. Handles it.

Cannot be understated what DeSantis did on abortion tonight. He didn't shy from the issue or talk about it in sheepish and embarrassed terms. Got out there and made the case.
Hopefully it gives Governor's across the country more confidence to control the narrative.
