I don't think any team should have a home game or a bye game. Playoff games should be as fair as possible. The benefit of being a higher seed should just be getting to play lower seeds (1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc)
When they figure out seeding, they could assign bowls based on the locations of the 2 teams to try to minimize travel time for teams/fans. For example, our game could have been the GameAbove Bowl in Detroit, the Autozone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee, or the Transperfect Music City Bowl in Nashville, TN. Those options would have been great for a 1st round playoff game and not a bad drive at all.
Sure, ND was close to IU but how is it fair that 95% of the tickets went to ND fans and their fans didn't have to go anywhere for their game. They lost to NIU and we lost to OSU and they get rewarded with a home game and 95% of the tickets.
Obviously ND was the better team but that game should have been on a neutral site with 50/50 ticket distribution.
