The problem is shooting, not coaching.

Everything Archie does, works.

But when your Sophomore guard misses 6 WIDE OPEN 3s, what the hell can you do?

If Archie walks into Cook Hall this summer and sees someone dunking the ball, that player should be immediately dismissed.

Oh hell no . . . IT’S COACHING!!!!

Right feepaw?
Think how bad Purdue would be if they couldn’t shoot? Painter has done a great job, but that job was made a lot easier because he has several guys who are really good shooters. Just watch what they’re doing to Villanova right now and it’s mainly because they’ve drained 9 3 pointers in the first half and are shooting over 50% from outside.

Yep.

Shooting covers up a lot of ills and shortcomings.

Really, what kind of coaching guru loses 12 of 13, it's pretty f'n hard to suck that bad … i.e., give him his obligatory year to "turn it around" and move on.

Let's give credit where credit's due … we suck, (yes our JV win streak and prize rolls forward)and they, without any expectations this year just completely humiliated the defending champ.

I don't care … $3.5 million a year … figure it the **** out … Painter has.

As I was watching the game I openly asked "why hasn't Devonte Green had his tiptoe jumpshot corrected by now? " certainly not easy, but coaching can help poor shooting form.
Also, it was clear that Rob and Al couldn't handle the new distance. Arkansas just runs down and pulls and they dont care where the line is.

Just so it can be said again...IT'S SHOOTING, NOT COACHING!. Maybe a lack of toughness too, maybe they need more desire....but if they could shoot better, we'd be in the real tourney right now and not in one that absolutely no one cares about, except maybe they players...

We do NOT need Matt Painter...a good coach for PU but not for IU. Said delusions are the result of unchecked disappointment and frustration. Time to get over it. Supporting your coach improves his chances of success. Try it...

Especially, Smith. That kid was in another universe, yesterday. If he attempts to drive, in the half-court, starting more than ten feet from the basket, it is going to result in a charge. He has this incessant desire to break a rim. With his physical talents, he should be one of the best players in the country.

Maybe the same coaching guru that starts out 12-2, huh...?

But keep on with your blathering nonsense.

The kind of coach that cant walk out there and shoot for his players.

True. IU was an abysmal shooting team this year. However, the coach also builds the roster. So what great shooters has Coach Miller recruited for next year? Is this team going to be a better shooting team next year?

Because he is our best 3-point shooter and hitting over 40%.

Speaking of blathering nonsense, you might check who they played in the early stretch versus who they played when they lost 12 of 13. Settling of less doesn’t mean you get to just make stuff up. Why would you defend losing 12 of 13, just another new IU fan?

When is Archie receiving his National COY trophy that you assured everyone he would win this year?

Archie has won 6 of 7. He got this team back on track. I'm on board. If you dont like Indiana, go cheer for someone else.

Not just shooting. Youth, roster construction, injuries, and implementation of a new system probably play more of a role.....not to mention the B10 being extremely good....a relatively healthy Davis makes this an entirely different team, as we have seen....

I’ve been telling people this since November. It was rather obvious, but most people just try to use the short-sided default blame the coach argument.

Back on track and out of the tournament...again?

No excuse for that with this roster. None.

When most of your team cant make wide open shots, I'd say 19 wins is pretty good.

I get the feeling that you are actually a Purdue fan that is trolling.

Purdue is in the Sweet 16 with all of their talent. Meanwhile we’re at home with 2 all conference players and 8 4 or 5 star recruits.

Purdue has a better collection of players who were specifically recruited and developed into that system.

"8, 4 or 5 star recruits." Lol

Only 1 is a 5 star.

Hunter never played.
Morgan was good.
Davis has battled injuries.
Anderson struggled.
Thompson had a serious head injury.
Smith is just awful.

None of the other players are 4 stars.

Moore and Forrester also 4 stars.

You've already shown that you make snap judgements which aren't always accurate. Your evaluation of the situation is suspect.

Maybe it was the coaching...?

You know, that thing that had you clamoring for Archie in the first place.
I give him credit for the wins. But the problem is there’s isn’t enough of them. This isn’t complicated.

Coaching...despite the glitz and glamor...is over-rated. A few exceptional coaches can win a game, but most of the time it takes players...doing what they do to win games. When you lose, 99% of the time you can trace it right down to a player doing poorly or injury. You cant coach those problems away....you just deal with them...as best the players can.

It is a players game...coaching helps, but talent wins.
