What a unique sound. I’m surprised I’d never heard of her. I don’t keep up on a lot of artists these days, but this is why I like this thread; to hear some old forgotten classics, and learn of talented artists I didn’t know about.
I don't want the good stuff thread to be all music, so I started this. Two simple rules:
1. Only music. The music can have political opinions, but you can't. Shut up.
2. One post per day. Don't post a playlist. Just post one song, and move on.
Here's how I'll start it:
A song for you is one of my all time favorites. Ray Charles did a great version too. But I like Leon’s best.
So this has just been posted within the past couple days and it's a really great cover. It's not the same level as the original or even the JC cover, but this version has a beautiful element of melodic harmony that neither Bruce's original or Johnny's cover provide...
This popped into my head today, probably hadn't heard it in 40+ yrs. I saw this tour live in Indy, with Linda Ronstadt opening...So this has just been posted within the past couple days and it's a really great cover. And having the two brothers provides a thematic element as well...

Anyway. Enough 70s beards and old farts. Taylor Swift’s latest dropped. Girl’s a genius. Has an entire generation of girls eating out of her palm.
So this popped up on my feed a couple of days ago, and I found it pretty extraordinary.

Not only were these two inspired to compose and perform a brilliant tribute to Emmylou in front of her, at the 2015 Polar awards celebration in Stockholm which is stunning enough. But the way they incorporated the early work with Gram inspired me to revisit some of that magic...
Grievous Angel
Love this version of Sin City off of Elite Hotel...
And the heartbreakingly beautiful tribute to Gram, Boulder To Birmingham...
Bruce finally did Stern yesterday, and several videos are making the rounds. Here is a discussion and solo piano performance of Tougher, live from the interview...
So this was just uploaded in the last day or so. A folksie cover of probably my favorite song off of Late For the Sky, and easily in my top 15 Jackson Browne songs ever. Such a lyrical masterpiece, that Springsteen referenced this song in particular while inducting JB in the RRHOF. And Jackson is actually featured and contributes background vocals to this rendition which makes it even more memorable...Bruce finally did Stern yesterday, and several videos are making the rounds. Discussion of composing the BTR album (on piano), with a performance of Thunder Road
This is a stunning story about Bruce playing LOHAD at Clarence's hospital bedside, as C died following his stroke...
Speaking of Warren Z, here's a rollicking version of Poor Poor Pitiful Me from a 1982 performance at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic. And when in Jersey, you cover the Boss...So this was just uploaded in the last day or so. Back to Late For the Sky and more incredible songwriting and the incomparable instrumental wizardry of David Lindley. A song that JB often dedicated live to friends who basically made up his "second family", like Warren and Crystal Zevon...
Another brilliant JB song, covered by Bonnie with Jackson in the background. I'd have preferred they trade off verses because Lyrically this song needs some element of male vocal lead. But JB is perfectly content to let Bonnie shine and her voice is awesome...
PS - That‘s Lou Rawls singing back up To Sam. He ain’t bad either:
