So Sir Paul headlined Glastonbury back in 2004...

Then in 2009 for the first time ever, Springsteen played the festival circuit, in both the US and Europe. I attended my first (and only) Bonnaroo, and following that the ESB headed to Europe where they headlined both Pink Pop (NE) and worked there way to Glastonbury. They headlined and closed Glasto on Sat, and then the next day they headlined Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park. And this happened...

So fast forward to 2022, Sir Paul turns 80 the night he plays Giants (Met Life) Stadium and Bruce shows up at what is virtually his home field to wish him Happy Birthday. Oh, and Bon Jovi shows up too. They closed with the Abbey Road medley...

Now fast forward to June 25, and Sir Paul is again headlining Glasto. And for whatever reason (I don't know how these deals are forged) Springsteen flies to London and along with Dave Grohl they join him at Glastonbury. But they do the exact same set as at Metlife- Glory Days, I wanna Be Your Man and the medley to close. Paul must have liked the way it worked in Jersey, but I'd have preferred they substitute something else (from Bruce or Paul) for Glory Days. It worked for his birthday show, but it wasn't a highlight for me...

However this reunion with John was really good...

So I imagine most, if not everyone reading this thread knows the name Red Rocks. I've never been there in person for a show although we may have driven by there when I made my pilgrimage to Boulder back in my college days. I've seen plenty of videos from different shows there...

So Lyle Lovett is on tour, along with Chris Issacs and played there last night. And prior to the show, Lee Sklar's daily video consisted of the most extensive tour up close and personal of Red Rocks you could ever imagine. I imagine very few people have ever experienced Red Rocks like this...Hopefully, some will find it as interesting as I did...

And since that video doesn't include any actual music, how about this 4th of July revisit by Lee to a few JT/CK classics off of Mudslide Slim. This takes me back to my summer school days as a radio DJ on my high school's (WBDG-FM) station...

So a few years back at the Kennedy Center honors, Jon Stewart described Bruce as the "abandoned love child" of Bob Dylan and James Brown

And in reading comments about this performance I read one post claiming that Adam Duritz was the son of Springsteen and Van the Man. Now I'm not sure I'd go that far, but this is pretty good...

I read that NYC Serenade (off of Wild and Innocent) is one of the 10 songs that Duritz claims had the most influence on him, and he ranks Wild and Innocent as his overall favorite Springsteen album. He wrote Around Here prior to the creation of Counting Crows, and the lyrical influence of Bruce's Wild and Innocent period is pretty obvious...

I’ve always thought Wild, Innocent is one of the most underrated albums of all time, especially among us Springsteen fans.

OK I'm feeling adventurous- let's see who is thinking outside the box. I call these "Seinfeld" songs. Why is that?

This is such an under appreciated gem...

Bruce actually wrote this in the 90s. But it fit on The Rising, and this fan made video with 9-11 footage provides a haunting symbiance with the lyrics...

While Creeque Alley is the story of the Mamas and Papas, it's also to a lesser extent the story of the Lovin Spoonful...

The Spoonful (and later Sebastian solo) had a number of hits- Summer In the City, Do You Believe in Magic, Nashville Cats etc... But for me the song I always find going thru my head and singing to myself from those days is this one... Classic Ed Sullivan appearance...

And a dazed and confused John Sebastian at Woodstock with a classic 60's moment...Eat your heart out "Nirvana baby"...

From my high school years- my first real musical hero...

Played the shit out of this album...So many underappreciated gems...

Did you see the 2023 US dates just released today yet? Tempted to take a road trip to FL, but I'm not sure about my health or how many shows I'm gonna want to see. Closest to me looks to be Columbus, and I've seen a few shows there in the past. So probably my initial choice...

Not sure a better cover of Rosie exists...

One of my favorite versions of Incident...

I think they likely saw this banner at one of the earlier Italian shows in 2013,and Bruce decided to save it for a full orchestration version in Roma in July. Probably knew that Roby would show up later on tour with his banner, and by chance Roby and his banner showed up in Rome where Bruce had already added it to that night's setlist...

So obviously not an impromptu request like most of the European shows featured that summer...Also probably felt it worked so well that he decided to add it as the opener to the entire US stadium summer leg of the River tour in 2016...The two shows I saw still opened with Meet Me in the City, before he switched to NYC Serenade...

I haven’t seen the dates, but a friend in Phoenix texted me this morning that there are no shows in the Bay Area or Phoenix on the list. We fly to each other’s cities for the shows, and hoping they add something to the tour. I’ll go to LA as well.

I've very likely posted this before, but it's been on my mind the last few days for some random reason. I remember being blown away by this song - and consequently this band - in the 1990s. Plus the video mixes good music and a good, old-fashioned, casual Midwestern pick up basketball game/shoot around. What's not to love?

Yeah my friend just texted me and said that tickets for Columbus go on sale the 27th. We're going to get seats. Normally I only get GA and have to do the multiple computer/phone system to try and get thru. But seats is a little more complicated when you need a specific number...

No show in Indy, but there are additional stadium dates to come following the European stadium date run, I'd assume. Imagine the Bay area will get something. Strange nothing in AZ- they always seem to get a show...

I sing this to my boys as a lullaby

I don't have kids. But I know a lot of people relate to these as lullabies

Little Miss Magic is now a member of his production staff

Paul's son Harper was born my junior year of high school, which means he's in his 50s...

Not really a lullaby, but the song Jackson Browne wrote for his son from The Pretender. The painful significance is that in March 1976 Jackson's wife (Ethan's mother) Phyllis committed suicide while Jackson was on tour. The Pretender was released 8 months later in Nov 1976. I think The Only Child was penned prior to Phyllis's suicide, but other songs on the album pretty obviously reflect that tragedy...

Of course 1975-76 was a pretty special year for IU fans. I'm pretty sure I saw Jackson during The Pretender tour at either IU or the Univ of Cincinnati (can't remember which)

Christian Rock Emo Punk Band which should mean they suck horribly, they do ... but still a good arrangement of an old traditional ...
