The DOGE Clown Show

If they were truly serious about cutting wasteful spending they’d go after the $2 trillion program to design a new fighter jet (F35) that engineers can’t get to work.
Don’t work? They’ve been flown in combat by the US and Israel. The US already has more than 1100 of them and our allies are buying many hundreds of them. The development was very expensive with many design problems but “don’t work” is a totally inaccurate description of the F35.

By the way, the sunk costs aren’t recoverable.

I don’t have a problem with employees being fired with just cause, but how can this rapid fire happen at this pace? There’s no way there was a proper vetting of all these employees and their departments. This had to be preconceived. I’m not a corporate man so please correct me if wrong. If a new CEO is hired to fix a company. Does he come in ready to fire employees or is there some form of due process to determine how best to fix the company? Seems like a fair question to me.
It depends on how bad the fiscal bleeding is. Sometimes you have to move fast, win or lose fast then course correct as needed. The fiscal bleeding in the swamp is terrible. So a large # of people get an extended unpaid vaca for now.

Laura Ingraham, that compassionate Christian who frequently displays a cross on her jewelry, says it’s high time the fired federal government employees (thousands of veterans included) get “a real job.”

Maybe she should.

The right way:

In government, “the stakes are higher,” she said. “People die. You fire air traffic controllers, and airplanes crash.”

“If you go into Twitter, cut 80% of the staff and twitter goes dark for a week, who gives a shit? The world goes on without X.”

I retired again a few months ago and my wife should, if all goes well, should be done with cancer treatment in late spring. We were planning to travel and visit several national parks. That plan had a gigantic wrench thrown into it:

Lucy, are you laughing at my wife fighting cancer for a year and a half or at the National Park mess? If the first, I will have to track you down. I have a particular set of skills to demonstrate to you. If the second, you’re just showing you’re a dumbass as usual and carry on, moonbat.

His excuse for sending it is a lie. They already sent out two emails at the end of January and asked employees to respond "Yes" that they had received them. The DoD encouraged its workforce to respond to that. So this whole, "I just want to see if there are fake workers or people not checking their email" is a lie. They already did that, twice.

He got his hand swatted by the other Senate approved Secretaries who already have a chain of command established and didn't appreciate him butting in. He pulls this stupid shit every weekend and time has to be wasted every week trying to figure out how to deal with the latest Elon bullshit. This is all just theater for dickheads.

It was good to see some of the Secretaries find some guts.

Anyone hear about the video that was playing on a loop on TVs in the HUD cafeteria?

They caught the guy and escorted him out of the building. I'd say it was a good example of misconduct doing that at work, but the bigger question is why does Musk have two left feet? He's a little freaky, but that's freakier than I thought . . .

I can't stand the guy, but I'll give Patel credit -- he told his people that they answered to him, not Musk, and that he would be the one that evaluated their performance.

That was basically what DoD said too. Except they didn't say it was one guy, they said the Department.

I don't know if it was GSA or HHS, but I saw that one of the agencies was talking about doing an official RIF. They were discussing VERA (voluntary early retirement) being offered to see if that would lower numbers. Then they could offer VSIP (voluntary separation incentive payment-max $25k) to see if more would leave. Then you hit a hierarchy of people for involuntary separation. Like people on a PIP or with history of an HR action against them would be the first to go. Then they look at tenure. And on down the line until they hit their goal reduction.

Beyond losing their job, that is what has federal employees so pissed. There was already a pretty orderly process set up to do this. Elon's stupid "sit at home for 8 months pay" offer that a bunch of people didn't trust probably would have gotten more takers at a lower rate (and a lump sum payment) if he would have just followed the established order. Instead he came in to just smash shit up. It was dumb.

He's probably going to run out of steam really quick. It's easy to tear to shreds the other guy's govt. With a cabinet now in place, it quickly shifts to tearing apart their own govt.

Yeah, nobody wants to be the ruler of a neutered kingdom.

ETA: He is creating a bunch of enemies in the court. They'll metaphorically shiv him as he is the main one with Trump's ear. They need him gone.

He's rage tweeting now every 10 mins about the need to impeach every federal judge that's ruled against the admin.

The NPS has been renting out, in season, two homes built before the Battle of Gettysburg located on the battlefield. It makes money for the government. They have had to cancel all reservations and shut down. The staff that did that also conducted maintenance on the battlefield. So there is doubtless going to be more deferred maintenance.

A lot of the maintenance work is done by NPS staff but paid for by private donations. I have donated money to repair Indiana monuments
