Stevens and Donovan...not too far fetched...

I'm not even going to buy into this pipe dream....for now.

If Brad (or Donavan) has another underachieving year in beantown next year...and CAM's recruiting continues to plateau and we miss the tourney next year....hmmm. Could get interesting.

Still hoping CAM can get this thing pointed upward. We've seen how deep a hole we can fall into when we are forced to make a coaching change. However, the two coaches in this article are unique in that there would not be the expected 'down' years after a change...if anything, an instantaneous boost upwards.

A lot riding on the next 10 months in Bloomington. IMHO.

He has a year to do it and I sure hope he can. I do not want to keep going through coachin searches. It certainly is a make or break year.

If IU was interested in a decent basketball program we’d have one of these prime coaches already. If IU was interested in a good program they would have gone after Brad his first FF. IU is only interested in a good program as long as it doesn’t cost too much.

I think Stevens is infinitely more valuable now as a college coach after his NBA rep and experiences. That experience is absolutely invaluable towards today’s recruits that maybe would have labeled him as bland or vanilla coming from just the Butler success.

The Celtics took a guy from the Horizon League named Brad Stevens. And now the Archie haters want somebody from a power five conference unless of course they could get Brad Stevens.

Yes, I see that Archie is a highly paid coach. IU wasted two years with ghost Tom Crean waiting for his payout to become less where the administration relented to keep the fan base happy. Had IU been serious they needed to deliver a Brinks truck to whomever they wanted and leave it parked in his driveway until he said yes.
Duke is going to give Brad everything he wants and more and Brad will say yes.

When Coach K leaves Duke is going to be set up for failure due to the end of the one and done players. Duke, along with Kentucky will no longer be a springboard to the NBA. Just look at the coaching carousel at UCLA and Indiana. And Duke is not winning national championships with NBA lineups.

You said that the last time we passed on Brad too.
And you said this the last time we had a coaching position open:
I've been waiting all afternoon to post this because I wanted to be 100% sure. I got a text this morning about it and admittedly I thought it was a rumor at first. I've been waiting to make sure its 100% before posting.
I can say with 100% confidence that Billy and his wife were in Bloomington this morning.
I don't see any scenario where he and his wife come to town and he doesn't take the job. It's happening!!!

Cyrano,
How about try supporting the team and coach going into year 3 and see how they do?

If you feel you have insight into why the team won't succeed next year then give specifics and bring a tangible discussion.

Agree that in no way should we assume year 3 is over before it begins. Self defeatist. That said, after 20 years of rebuilding, being young, needing own guys, upper admin, etc. this is my 1st year of pulling back to doing just what I have to. Other things are beginning to replace the passion. That’s the biggest forthcoming issue without improvement, imo. Maybe it’s just me though.

The team was winning games and staying tough until the dropoff starting at Michigan.
There was a big lack of vocal leadership on that team. I don't know that it is fixed, but I do know that if they fix that problem they won't repeat that washout.
Talentwise, put a trimmed down and determined Davis in there with TJD, Hunter, Green and Phin, or with Smith and there is plenty of talent. Brunk, Thompson, Durham, Franklin and Anderson off the bench is plenty, if they are healthy.

If they all improve, if leaders rise, if they are healthy, and if they work on getting and hitting open shots, they can be a solid team.
Let's find out if that happens.

Guys like Feepaw & Cryano don’t want to wait to find out much like my 6 year old throws tantrums when he doesn’t yet posses the intellect or emotional maturity to understand if he doesn’t get what he wants immediately. The difference is my boy will grow out of it...

Duke will give him 10 million a year if needed. IU would probably not even pony up half of that so our chances with him are slim and none. We had our chance to get him before and we blew it.

The difference is your 6 year old possesses more intellect and emotional maturity to understand at his age than those two combined . . . ;)

There’s a difference in throwing a tantrum in the car on a trip home from vacation because you want to ride your bike...and throwing a tantrum on a sunny Saturday afternoon at home when you want to ride your bike.

See - the kid isnt happy either way.
One of them there is absolutely nothing you can do...you just have to deal w the misery of the tantrum as you drive on home.
The other...you have control over. You make the decision to get up off your arse, take the kid outside, and let him ride his bike.

Why act like there is no alternative to continuing down this unenjoyable path of Archie’s tenure?

Because unless you are Fred Glass there’s not, at least today. Archie ain’t going anywhere for another year at least so you’re bitching just to bitch, you know, like a toddler or malcontent. It’s mental weakness...

I find it hilarious that people think that if IU had hired Brad Stevens he'd still be the coach at IU. He wouldn't. He'd still be the coach for the Celtics and the IU coaching carousel would still be turning. He wouldn't have turned down the NBA just because he was coaching at IU.

Stevens likely would have left the program is great shape making getting another top notch coach easier. Why is that hilarious?

Try learning to read since that's not even close to what I said was hilarious.

I will address your question statement and question anyways, however. If IU had fired Crean and hired Stevens, he would've been the coach at IU for only 1 or 2 seasons before jumping to the NBA. I really doubt he would have left IU in such great shape after such little time that it would've had a lasting affect on the program.

Now you should learn simple math. Crean's 3th year (when people here are saying he should have been fired and Stevens hired) was 2011. Stevens was then hired by the Celtics in 2013. So 2 seasons max at IU. If he came to IU it and turned it around in 1 season right after 2 straight NCAA Final finished at Butler the NBA may have come calling a year sooner.
