Soccer

Never seen a mini-wall in front of the opponents. Not sure what the idea of that is! Not exactly creating a gap for the kicker.
Let's hope the dude hasn't got a displaced nose.
Only reason I can think of is the guy taking the kick simply wanted to drill his teammate in the face.

It’s a nasty yellow that in my old man league would have caused that guy to be attacked for sliding like that.

I have been kneed by some cyant up my tailbone during a rugby match. Red mist overcame me and I started hacking someone with the studs of my boots. Got sent off which I thought was unfair considering that the ref didn't catch the original foul to start with.
Must have taken me 6-8 months to recover as you keep re-injuring it. Felt like 1000 volts of electricity shooting up your spine.

My Sunday league is super clean. Everyone knows each other etc. I used to show up now and again for random indoor but stoppped. Too many clowns play indoor that you can’t predict what they will do. Sucks bc indoor is my favorite

I have played in the local business football/soccer leagues here. It's usually the little fellas who seem to want to fight you. Small man syndrome. everywhere.

I played as a DM, sitting on top of the back four as I got older. Put in 'timely physical but fair' tackles or hip checks into some of the attacking mids or strikers and they get upset. 🙄🙄
I mean the feckers here are small & rapid here. Whats my alternative?

Here's a question @mcmurtry66 and @larsIU

What if soccer put in place a rule similar to basketball where you cannot go back across the centerline (backcourt violation)? I think that would force teams to continue aggression and also provide more counterattacking.

Next you'll be talking shot clock.

Get back to your indoor arenas heathen.

I'm grinning ear to ear while reading this.

There is little I enjoy more than telling soccer fans--true, lifelong lovers of the sport--different rule changes to make the game more bearable for the rest of us. In my mind, it's the entire purpose of this thread. Keep 'em coming!

So you watch a bunch of unathletic jorts wearers throwing a frisbee around - what did you do to deserve such a punishment?

Nah, the neckbeards all wear basketball shorts now.

And round times fit in with a 90 min soccer practice which is just far enough away that turning around and driving back after driving home seemed dumb. And there was a disc golf course nearby at a park and it seemed more interesting that dully walking around a trail.

And, like bowling, you can drink while doing it. And, unlike bowling, you'll probably burn some of those calories off while doing it.

And, if you're into drugs, well the Venn diagram of heads and disc golf lifers is almost a perfect circle. So, there's that.

Ok, I’m curious. What minor rule tweaks would you serious football fans think would be ok? I’ll say that all sports go through minor rule tweaks that have some significant effects on the sport. Ie. The pitch clock in MLB has been profound. Maybe too much. Still, no sport is untouchable.

@larsIU

Shea Lacey. Name to remember in a couple of years time.

I think he's 15-16y.o now but always playing a level above his age group. So he's in the U18s now.

He's highly skilled good footballing IQ and fast --- but small. However, his brothers are both 6ft plus. And his growth plates suggest that he will add a few more inches to his frame.
