My guess is that Phin is likely back. XJ is more of a tossup - he could be leaning to leaving, but might feel out of place giving a speech having only been here 1 year. The same could be said of Stewart since this is the only year he's played, but he might also want to express gratitude for being welcomed after his father's passing.

is this races 4th year on campus or 5th, I know he redshirted, could he have 2 more years if he wanted or just 1?

Based on Woody's comments last night, it sounds like at least one player may get pork chopped.

On the roster moving forward, Woodson said “it goes kind of both ways” with players deciding what they want to do and also the coaching staff getting together and figuring out what they want to do.

What about fabulous Freddie's student bill of rights? Is that still a thing?

they can still be cut from the team... they're just guaranteed to keep their scholarship if they want to stay at IU.... you know, like working on their parks and rec degrees

The BOR guarantees only 4 years on scholarship (minus years already completed if a transfer) towards an undergraduate degree. More than 4 years and/or graduate school support are at the discretion of the university and coaching staff. Also, it does NOT guarantee a roster spot. Just tuition/room & board/etc.

Which means - NONE of the 6 are GUARANTEED a scholarship or tuition/room & board

That is likely correct. Although, another part of the BOR is that each athlete gets a written agreement outlining any guarantees, which I think could potentially extend passed the 4 year cut off (eg it is maybe possible a transfer's credits may not have fully counted toward an IU degree and got an upfront agreement for an additional year to take extra classes). Even then, a roster spot wouldn't be guaranteed, just the scholarship money.

Well that sucks.

Race is the glue guy and we really need him next year.
I think Race has played well enough to garner some All Big 10 votes.
He’s been (at least arguably) more consistent than Trayce this year
Seldom in foul trouble, and yet a standout defender — leads team in steals.
12pts, 8 boards, 1 Block in 30 minutes per game. Multiple double doubles

Do those 6 scholarships count against the limit?

Scholarship limits only count towards active roster members. However, Athletic Departments are allowed to give out scholarships to non-athletes, but as soon as you take scholarship money from a school and are not a part of an active roster that is counted towards a limit, the athlete loses all remaining eligibility.

That's my understanding also. It was good for 20-21 only and then back to "normal" in 21-22.
Last year was the Covid year. The year the tourney got cancelled they didn’t allow players to come back. Cash at msu got screwed.

I thought there was a Covid exemption, maybe it was only for one year?

Seniors that had used up their eligibility then used their COVID exemption this year didn't count against scholarship limits for this year only. That was done to give teams a grace year to work out scholarship numbers and not choose between kicking someone off the team or reneging on scholarship offer to make limits work on short notice

That's what I'm saying. Last year was 20-21 and everyone got a free year because of Covid.

I thought Winston left on his own in '20 after testing the waters in '19.

I see Leal, Lander, Thompson, Jackson-Davis, Stewart, Durr, all not coming back. That give us a lineup of.

PG Johnson , Phinesee,
SG Galloway, Bates,
SF Schifino, Gunn,
PF Geronimo, Banks,
C ?, Duncomb

The single most underrated player in the league.

Leal and Galloway already have a house for next year.
You keeping a crash space there like Beanie in Old School?
