Doge was liked by those excited to see an outsider broach a subject those hanging off gov teats have been too afraid to do anything about for decades.
Hell, when was the last time a budget bill was passed? The ones in the late 90s driven by the Republican House were good.

I had no intention to play a game. I intended to exchange a few serious posts about alleged damage DOGE caused.
One thing I do know is that while DOGE hasn’t prompted any government shrinkage, it has already shined a light on stupid spending and caused setting new priorities. This is notable in foreign aid, health care, and defense.
Also DOGE has made strides in tightening the means and methods of how money goes from the treasury to the payee.

What? It would be easier if you provided some specifics on these things. Destroying soft power makes using much more expensive hard power more likely. What in the world did they do in health care that's laudable? It certainly wasn't with the VA. What did DOGE do withing DoD that you think was good?

Your prescriptions might make a better society in the future. They might prevent suffering in the future. And that is laudable and needed.
But why do you refuse to acknowledge the here and now? None of that will change the reality of right now for those suffering. Blame them all you want—much of that in the US is warranted—but it doesn’t make it the issue go away.

Afghanistan? Who didn’t support that? The mistake was staying there after Al Qaida was run out. Iraq? Most Americans, something like 70+ percent supported that too. Mistakes were made after winning the war which we’ve discussed here extensively. Biggest being disbanding their defeated military and government and not getting out. I don’t admire all that happened after we won the initial war in each country. Afghanistan is a lost cause but Iraq isn’t. They’re officially a partner nation doing business with the US.
Some of us by 50 don’t have to work like dogs. And we certainly don’t have to ask other posters for money.

Well, it’s true. Virtually everybody who has managed to avoid poverty has done so by working and earning a paycheck.
And that’s not entirely a matter of dumb luck.
I’m not opposed to redistributive public policies. I just think they could use some rethinking - largely based around the idea of requiring more from the recipients.
They should be less oriented toward subsistence and more oriented toward driving people toward self-sufficiency.
We do people no favors by enforcing the premise that they’re helpless.
