Taliaferro was the first Black member of the county’s judiciary after she was named Monroe Circuit Court Magistrate in 1989, and then Monroe Circuit Court Judge in 1995.

I know some people who stood before her when they were youngsters. They all thought the world of her, even when she was hard on them. She never gave up on a kid, ever.
