Reality check for the anti-Beard folks…

Nope, I don't. A police report that suggests a crime happened and a decision to not prosecute that crime are not inconsistent, in particular when the victim recants in the meantime.

And I don't know what happened, and I personally don't care if they hire beard.

Never mind, then. No big deal. I don't care if they hire Beard, either.

I don't trust the process Jim. Handing a list of preferred traits to a search firm so they run it through a series of algorithms mightve worked for the football coaching job, but the intangibles required to survive as IUs basketball coach is a completely different animal.
Search firms do not necessarily "find your guy" as much as help vet and gather, combine, and provide information about individuals. They do not have a "dog in the fight" nor do they make decisions. This is all Scott Dolson as far as the selections. Remember that Kentucky and Louisville went to 3rd options last year and it has worked out quite nicely for them. Scott has had more time to work on it, so I am confident he will take in the info and make a good decision. Finding out a coach's interest level is #1 and you go from there. A deal could quietly be put in place anytime over the next two weeks. I expect that the selection will not necessarily be announced but wrapped up following the 2nd weekend of NCAA play. IMO

I know you once favored Beard (heard it in one of your podcasts) as do I. Is there a possibility he is IU's next HC or do you think that ship has sailed? So many names to ponder, and many just not excellent.

Kentucky is not much better off this year from last, Pope will probably be good I think the BYU team he left is better than his UK team? UofL is hard to judge, Hepburn has been way better than expected but I'm still skeptical of the schedule. IU has over 20 wins if they have that schedule and I think IU is the definition of average if not below.

My gut started telling me Beard was not in the running and then a conversation I had a week or so ago solidified that. Maybe things will work out how they are supposed to. I think Scott will do a good job here.

Just really too bad the guy is one heck of a coach, but IU loves to limit its options.

I read somewhere that Beard’s agent has gotten IU to atleast consider him and look at how much he’d changed.

Personally I can’t see a better fit anywhere in sports.
“Beard’s success at Texas Tech and the job he’s done at Ole Miss in two seasons – along with his ties to Knight – have made him a frequently discussed name for the IU opening. From a coaching standpoint, Beard is one of the best tacticians in the country and would likely thrive with the resources available in Bloomington,” Alex Bozich wrote.

And IU won't touch him. Just amazing. No wonder we are doing a new search every four years.

Beard killed it at home last night. Took down Tennessee. And you talk about teams that can make consistent, clutch shots in key moments of a game, both teams were money all night. Back and forth.
Todd Golden is another guy that is solid.
But neither of these guys will ever be considered because of their histories with the female species.
Golden loves chasing skirt.
That’s a no-no in today’s world.

Zeke and friends would put on their vagina hats and storm right in to Pam Whitten’s office to form a blockade.

Wasn’t it Zeke herself, however, that once admitted to sexually exploiting fellow sorority sisters by dressing them provocatively for recruits in bikinis?
Then there was this vague report about Zeke nearly inflicting battery on a former pledge by sitting on her face and nearly smothering the girl in an act of erotic hazing. Almost became a battery case but was dropped? I didn’t believe that one that was reported. The details seemed sketchy but and smothering someone with a crotch sitting is likely unintentional and consensual.

Heck I think they would probably probably try and lockdown the whole school until he was fired. This is why we end up with mid major flavor of the month hires and need a new coach every four years. Almost all the top coaches have some sort of baggage and IU rules ever single one of them out.

Gave you a shout out during your segment with Bozich. I mentioned the wrong forum however, my apologies. Your input on "the incident " in this thread was refreshing and not something ive heard from any other content provider. If anyone has been involved in coaching or been a family member of one as they try to ascend the ranks, probably has a different vision of how that relationship was and how "the incident " played out. You hit it on the head. 99% of the seasoned coaches in the sport have drank too much, been divorced at least once, made huge mistakes, and certainly had toxic relationships. You only hear about it when the successful ones do it. Doesn't make it right in the eyes unfamiliar, but it's the reality of the job.

Are you able to expand on that conversation from last week? It seems like the vetting agency could help Dolson/Whitten get more info before deciding for or against the coach many feel is the best option.

If he passes on beard knowing beard would come he has automatically failed at doing a good job. If he wants beard and is not allowed to make the hire he wants he works for a shit company.

I have zero confidence in IU making a sound decision. Hearing names like Cronin and Brownell just prove their incompetence

100% correct

Who cares what Zeke and friends do because they don’t know shit. I want the guy who is a great fit and can get this university back to being a blue blood program. Indiana has been stuck on 5 championships for far too long.

I'll just say that I don't think it was ever a serious option. Think abought the current lawsuit IUBB has ongoing. I just dont think it was a hill they thought they couldn't climb with someone else.

WTF? Please enlighten me: Which names have Dolson & Co. publicly mentioned? WE are the ones mentioning all these coaches and where they supposedly "stand" with IU. We have no idea who is or isn't being considered.

I doubt he would leave Florida
He has a $14 million buyout

Politics should play no role in the choice, and should be irrelevant, but it’s fairly common knowledge that both Beard and McCollum are pretty liberal. Beto O’Rourke and Kamala Harris supporters, financially.

Fair enough but they would be very different types of issues.

The online rumors tonight seem to indicate that Dolson is still considering Beard and has possibly already met with him.

For him to have met with him he would have to have had the permission of Ole Miss. I do not think that would happen at this juncture of the season. When you say "online rumors " where are you speaking of?

Hoosier Hysterics and Rabjohns. Different sources but similar updates. Rumors can change but who knows.

Those two are one and the same. So they said Dolson met with Beard?
Possibly met with him or are planning to do so soon. Again, they gave themselves an out saying it’s just what they are hearing. They said they each have different sources. They both thought Beard was also out and this news surprised them.

No offense, but that's lame. Well, since we all know that Chris beard would walk over broken glass on his hands and knees to Bloomington for this job we'll see if there is any truth to it. It would make a lot of Indiana fans very happy.

I would love to have a coach that really wants to be at IU!! I think that was part of the appeal when they hired Woody. Other coaches just viewed the IU job as too good to pass up or just a better pay check. It should be more than that at IU!

Those two work together. Rumors are great for click bait. I try not to do that.
Always possible. Quick question for you about meeting with a coaching candidate. I get that Ole Miss would have to give Dolson permission to meet with CB but how is that typically done? It seems like all these coaches take new jobs the day after they lose in the tournament. Surely there must have been some interview process that was allowed. Maybe zoom interviews?

Last year, everyone knew Josh Schertz was leaving for St Louis and yet their season just kept rolling in the NIT. Something must have been allowed by ISU, right?

I’m confused with this news as well.

So, is the vagina hat brigade blockade still a “go” and the rally point is still in front of Pam’s house?

no it shouldn't. Don't need to know, don't care. It can't be mentioned in the search and doesn't need to be here. What are their birth signs; that might be more relevant?

In the context of the argument with whoever that was, they do. You can't argue on one hand to learn the law - that the accuser doesn't control whether charges are brought when you're arguing that it was DV because of the police report, implying that all evidence was so serious that the police filed it, and then turn around and say that the DA wouldn't prosecute because she's uncooperative. You see what I'm saying?
0%.

The DA COULD prosecute, but just like in every case of nearly any kind, if you don’t have witnesses willing to provide the evidence that caused the charges to be brought, you have no case.

I'd be good with Chris Beard. I don't think it's very likely he'd get us in any trouble or have personal issues. That would be an exciting pick.

But there's other fine coaches out there. So the beard, Beard, Beard!, BEARD!, BEARD!!!, BEARD OR OUR ADMINS SUUUUUUCK!!!! chants get a little old.

We missed on several lesser known younger ones last year that are off to fine starts with their new schools.

I favor McCollum. If he'd consider us. We may have missed, he just moved.

But I don't know much about any of them really, only their records, and snapshots from interviews.
