Reality check for the anti-Beard folks…

He’s a big time Trump supporter. He recently had Dan Bongino out for a game and was bragging about it on X. I’m sure all the faculty and administrators would just love him.
You realize that Pam is GOP right? And you realize that the trustees are appointed by, formerly Holcomb and now Braun.

Pretty ridiculous comment.

Here's an interesting take from Rick Pitino a couple of weeks ago:

"Recently, in an interview with Pardon My Take, he called what is happening now in college basketball a “carbon-copy” of what happens in EuroLeague.

“I like it because I spent 10 years in the pros, and to me, it’s almost a carbon copy of the Euroleague,” Pitino said. “The Euroleague, if you sign a player for two years, that’s a long time. So it’s really a one-year contract. You’re getting different players every year. And that’s the way it [is] with us.”"

The conventional days of searching for a "winner" are over, thanks to NIL and the portal. IU needs a younger version of Rick Pitino, skillwise, who can hit the ground running.....build the plane while its taking off of the runway.....and stock the roster with championship ready talent. Who fits that bill?

Forget a younger version, I'll take Rick right now.

It's getting much COOLER in here. Unless GOP are the initials of a coaching candidate, this thread seems a bit misplaced.
Gregg Popovich! It's a "go", other than health issues.
I know his middle name is Charles but a capital C is very close to a capital O.

Guys, this is a pointless argument. First, none of us were there. While the detailed stories I have gotten puts the situation as she is a known drinker, who had been "over served," and she instigated a physical confrontation. It appears that with her athletic build and alcohol fueled mindset, that she engaged Beard, and he fought her off. I will not assume how or why he bit her on the arm, but I would assume her arm was across his face, or she was doing something that he was trying to prevent. If he simply wanted to knock the sh!* out her he could have. Sometimes there are situations that force your actions to escape. I do not think Beard if a woman beater.
With that said I do not think it matters. Because there is too much ambiguity, I am of the opinion that Indiana will most likely look elsewhere, end of story.
Trying to debate, defend or condemn Chris Beard is pointless. There is simply nothing that will give Indiana enough comfort here to make that hire. IMO.
I really appreciate you sharing a few more details of what you have heard about this confrontation and all the allegations. It does make more sense that this was a moment of insanity and not a guy that gets his thrills from hurting women.

I have respected him as a coach for about six or seven years now. The things that he has been able to do with less talent is pretty remarkable. For years now, I have hoped that IU would be lucky enough to get a coach like him. I guess that’s why I keep posting on this thread. I’m still hopeful Scott and Pam are willing to hire him if they think he’s the best coach. I personally feel he is a better coach and program fit than Drew, May, Cronin or any of the others that are mentioned.

Imo the people in charge need to shit can the PR and PC garbage and hire the best man for the job period. They're not running a Sunday school, this is big business.
And I hope that is how Dolson is working on this search right now. Maybe this time the President and other “board” members will allow Dolson to use his expertise and do HIS job.

You ever met that woman? Heard of the issues she had at TTU? Do some research and see what you find
Research? Kraft and Zeke don't need no stinkin' research... or facts. They know what they feel, and those are the only facts they need!

I'm guessing Kraft has never seen a woman in a drunken fit of rage, but imagining a 6' college athlete, you would have to defend yourself by laying hands on her or you're going to get injured.

Now, on to new subjects, I'd be in for a pay per view of watching Ms Trew in a drunken rage battle Kraftie and see how he does not laying hands on her.

Easily done. None of them are in line for the IU job.

I don't trust the process Jim. Handing a list of preferred traits to a search firm so they run it through a series of algorithms mightve worked for the football coaching job, but the intangibles required to survive as IUs basketball coach is a completely different animal.

This does not change my previous stance. I spent some time reading about Beard's domestic violence case. I get that charges were dropped and she changed her statement stating she wasn't choked during the attack but there was physical evidence of an attack. There a lot's of motivations that could have led her to change her statement. I believe in second chances and I believe he is getting one. While I think he would win big at IU, spouse abuse isn't something that I can look past. To me the only things more egregious are child abuse rape and murder. I'm sure I'm not alone in these feelings. I've seen the argument that this isn't a morality job it's a coaching job and I get that I only have four morality requirements no history of child abuse, wife beating, rape or murder. Those are hard stops for me.
You are overly influenced by your job. You have quickly labeled him without knowing the facts. Not just a police report but the reality of their relationship and her previous scuffles at TTU with others.

With all due respect, there's a world out there outside of yours. I went through a divorce as well, and while going through that divorce, one time, after having cross-cut the lawn, paid the bills, vacuumed the house, cleaned the kitchen and gotten everything in immaculate order, a police officer showed up at the door. When I went to the door he just looked at me. I finally said, "What's going on?" and he gave me a look and asked me in a confrontational manner, "I don't know. Why don't you tell me?" It was then that I looked over and saw my soon to be ex-wife sitting with my 10-month-old son on one side and my two-year-old son on the other, trying to muster some crocodile tears. There had been absolutely nothing going on, but the nightmare was playing out: she was really going for it. I couldn't believe it. Lucky for me I was calm and truly bewildered and the house was immaculate. The officer asked me if there had been an argument or if I'd been yelling and I said simply, "No." He asked my ex if I'd argued with or yelled at her and she replied, "No, but he was saying things sarcastically and making me feel uncomfortable."

The officer was stunned. He told her that was not a reason to call the police. He apologized to me and told me watch my back. He's seen it a million times and not all officers are interested in the man's explanation no matter how plausible and/or evident it is.

It turns out her attorney, my attorney and the judge were not very happy with her and she had to formally apologize to all of us at the judge's insistence.

She's not like that generally speaking but she got caught up in the bitterness of divorce and rode a wave of cheerleading from her friends and family.

I also had a good friend who had a good friend whose career as a schoolteacher was ended by a female student who falsely accused him of sexual misconduct. Even when it was proven she was lying the school district would not take him back and he was unable to find a job in teaching.

My experiences didn't teach me to just say all women are whack job liars who deserve it. It taught me to block out the tidal wave of knee-jerk reactions, uneducated conclusions and immense noise and judge what happened and make a reasoned guess as to why.

It all matters.

Maybe Beard is a scumbag. But if he is I don't know of any incidents that prove it. This one is murky at best. And it doesn't bother me at all to say so.
My little league baseball coach lost his teaching and coaching job and about ten years of his life from a false accusation from a fourth grade girl. After graduating from high school the girl admitted her dad hated the man and encouraged her in the accusation that he knew was false.

Even after the truth come out it was too little too late for my coach and friend.

That is interesting. I don't know but the guy at Florida, Golden/Gulden?, is young and a winner.
