Purdue vs Villanova

He can only do so much with the players he is able to get. Coaching at Purdue limits the players you can get. He’s at his peak.

He stated it in an interview before the season that they wouldn’t be getting involved in NIL. I’ve linked it for you before.
There is a limit to the players he can get? Idc what he said. The team has players participating in NIL, so obviously he changed.

Lol because they had open shots because nova had to double the post. Gonzaga doesn’t need to do that.

Purdue guards can’t win big games. Look at North Texas.
Look at the elite 8 run. Purdue guards. North Texas was an anomaly in a weird year. I take nothing from it.

Yes, he isn’t going to recruit at a high level. He’s had 1 5* in 17 years
He can change it. Recruit continues to improve and he's getting closer. Helps when he has a bigger budget for recruiting and coaches now than 5 years ago and beyond. Money can change everything. Painter recruits players to his system. He listened to Bob Knight on that strategy.

How is recruiting improving? You have 3 guys ranked outside the top 100

Giving a coach 17 years to "get warmed up" wouldn't come close to flying at a blue blood. You should be penalized for mentioning Matt Painter in the same conversation as Bob Knight.

Why? I'm not wrong in what I said. They know each other quit well and after painters early successes, he struggled and knight told him its because he got away from recruiting the right players. Or do you struggle with Painter and Knight being friends?

Painter would have been fired in 2-3 years at UK or UNC.

That's usually where Purdue's players are ranked. Williams and Edey were both ranked outside of the top 100; Edey famously at 440. What's your point anyway since Painter has done quite well with lower rated classes? I'd say that just proves Painter is a very good coach. Bo Ryan rarely had highly rated recruits and Wisconsin had some really great teams while he was there.

Painter may be the best dumpster diver ever ..

Hes at his best with those guys and a carsen or ivy sprinkled in. Granted, neither of those were highly ranked. Myles Colvin might end up being one of his best recruits.

Painter is no Bo Ryan.

Based on what?
Well….
Ryan
2 NCAA Division I Regional—Final Four (2014, 2015)
3 Big Ten Tournament (2004, 2008, 2015)
4 Big Ten regular season (2002, 2003, 2008, 2015)
Clair Bee Coach of the Year (2007)
Big Ten Coach of the Year(2002, 2003, 2013, 2015)
Jim Phelan Award (2008)
Adolph Rupp Cup (2007)

Painter
Basically, the Big Ten tourney success and Final Fours tips the scales to Ryan.

FF appearances
Consistency at the top of the BIG
He won 4 big tens and made it past the elite 8 in his final 2 years. Painter is on a better track then Bo Ryan. Painter has finished in the top 4 of the big ten 75ish percent of the time he's been at Purdue. Still has 20ish year of coaching. Once Painter gets a final 4, he will be on thr same level or ahead of Ryan.

Painter has coached longer at Purdue than Bo at Wisky. How long shall we wait for that FF appearance. And screw you for making me be an advocate for Bo Ryan.

Bob Knight is very old. Painter is not a young coach.

Just remember this, Old age is Always one year older than you are! ’ When you are 80 and still can walk 5-6 miles a day, enjoy sex, binge watch Netflix until 3 a.m., drive 600 miles in
a day, and laugh at smart asses that think you are old you have already outlived more than half of those you were born with!

What has Painter done well with? He has no Final 4s in 16 years.

Nah, when you are older than 50, you are older than sh*t and are just preparing to die.

That's such a limited, limited way of looking at success. Is Tom Crean a great coach because he got to a Final Four?

BTW here is a funny video on how Painter was influenced by Bob Knight:

Yikes! That’s the overwhelming majority of IU fans that actually saw the great teams that all IU fans brag about!

That’s almost a better self own of the program than when you tried to convince us that IU was still a blue blood because the “baseline times” said so. Don’t know if you even meet their criteria any longer so you may have lost the baseline times too lol

As opposed to the Purdue fans from age 1-100 that never saw them win really anything? I guess a women’s basketball championship counts for you, so you can count that on your ledger.

It's been 6 years and counting. Get to a tournament and then we would have something to compare. Until then...enjoy the continuation of a** beatings we've been supplying to your program. What a fan base 😂
The majority the last 10-15 years have sucked for IU basketball and it's fans, we can still say we've come closer to winning a national championship this century (2002, when was Purdue's last appearence in a national championship game, 1969?) than Purdue has, have made as many Sweet 16s as Purdue over the last 10 years (3), despite missing the NCAA Tournament for the last 5 years, have only ONE less victory than Purdue (6 to Purdue's 7), and have won as many regular season titles (2). Maybe Purdue should try to make a Final Four at least once every decade for 4 straight decades instead going 41 years (and counting) between appearences. But hey, at least you can say that over the last 10 years, one of your best coaches has been able to equal the amount of success as 2 of our worst😉👍.

The difference between Painter and your 2 coaches is the amount of admin support and money invested. It's no coincidence Painter, and other sports, saw increased and sustained success under Daniel's and Bobinski.

There is a difference between a good coach and a great coach. It certainly looks bad for Matt and Gene that Tom Crean and Mike Davis have been to FF's and they got fired at IU. This is why Matt would be fired in 2-3 years at UK or UNC: good isn't good enough there, and they aren't going to wait around 17 years for their coach to do something great. Good works at PU and will get your name on their court: just a different standard.

You are saying Chet Holmgren or Drew Timme guards Zach or Tre by themselves... with no help?
