You can substitute the subject line as "IU Receives NCAA Tournament Birth".
As is, "Purdue is in the Final Four!". A better one is "Matt Painter announces his retirement."
Why are you on an IU website?
IU changed coaches, a rebuild is normal.
Painter and Keady have never been to a Final Four.
Even Mike Davis has been to a Championship game.
The worst April Fools prank ever occurred when we lived in Kentucky. We lived south of Lexington and would drive up there nearly every weekend. This particular year was in the middle of the UK cheating scandal. While driving up, the radio station broke in with a live report from Bloomington that Bobby Knight was about to announce that he would become the new head coach of Kentucky. The reporter was clearly giving his report over a telephone and while we wanted to think it wasn't true, we came up with reasons why it could be.
We walked around the mall in a daze and felt like someone had punched us in the gut. I was paying for something and I casually asked what the date was as I was filling out the check. "April 1st". My wife and I looked at each other and said that Knight leaving had to be a joke, but we went to the car and listened to the radio to confirm it.
They finally admitted their prank. They were surprised by the number of calls in support of the move. Afterward, there were a lot of angry people. We were just relieved and happy we could breathe after what had been a stressful day.

Good story......similar to when I was in school. The Indiana Daily Stupid put out an edition with the headline "Knight takes UCLA Job" ....as I recall, this was in 1975, immediately after UCLA won what should have been our 3rd NC, and Wooden retired............that was a good one!! Then I glanced down the page and the other headline was something like "IU Trustees Sell Eiglenmann Hall"..........
It's a free country is why I'm on an IU website. I like talking B1G basketball. Been a B1G fan for 40 years.
Rebuilding? Are you kidding me? Y'all been so called rebuilding for years now. Ever since Oladipo, Zeller, and Yogi. With a line up of Morgan, Smith, Phinesee and Romeo, Painter would have walked through this tournament with that group. Y'all need a coach that actually runs an offense. Archie is way over his head as I'm looking from the outside in. I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel moving forward to next season. It may even be worse if that is possible. The Purdue/IU rivalry ain't even fun watching anymore.
IU will stink next year and PU won't miss a beat next year with their role players: got it, homer. Please, tell me more about how awesome Nojel, Wheeler, and Sasha whatshisname are again (eyeroll).
Rebuild? I believe rating wise Miller had more talent than Painter.
Why does Matt stink at recruiting? Do you think he would do better at recruiting somewhere else?
You will find out soon enough about Wheeler when he is posterizing another IU player like Octeus, Hammonds, and Carsen Edwards have done in recent years. You will find out about Stefanovich when he is raining 3's. Eastern will continue to run the offense, post up Phinesse, and get to the hoop 'cause IU doesn't play defense.
Question for you. Would you rather have 5 star recruits and miss the NCAA NIT 2 years in a row? Or, would you rather have good 4 star players and get to the Elite 8 after making the sweet sixteen 3 years in row?

Nojel's offensive game consists of uncontested layups, garbage buckets, a right handed flip 5 feet from the bucket, and hitting 1/2 free throws (if he's lucky). Roughly 6 PPG. Sasha and Wheeler, lol.
Edwards was your whole team, and he's gone. You're about to come back down to earth.
I'd rather have star players and a shot at winning a national championship instead of having an Elite 8 ceiling. You want to know why you lost to Virginia? Because they had Guy, Jerome and Hunter, and PU had only Carsen. Michael didn't win until he got Scottie. IU fired Crean for going to Sweet 16's, and he had been to a Final Four.
Didn't Painter have a few below .500 seasons?

Again. You guys are as dumb as they come. We lost 3 pro players, archie came in with the rif raf left over ( minus JM), and he spent the first 2 years changing the culture Crean ruined. I gurantee it isnt over yet. But all your brain can muster is "durrrrrr"
I will give this to Matt. He doesn't recruit high level players. But he does a lot with what he has. His players get better. Anyone can see this.
He's been there 15 years with no final four. I don't understand how you can think he's a good coach. Carsen Edwards is the only reason they had a run.
Matt Painter's PU playing career is over.
He needs Carsen to compete and his time to cash in on some big scoring games is upon them. Carsen's NBA stock will never get any hotter.

How about good, but not great. He obviously has trouble getting 5 star kids to come to Purdue. Yet his team won the B1G this year. I would at least call him a good coach.
Remember how adamant you were that Painter's ceiling was the Sweet 16? Keep changing those goalposts. At this point, you shouldn't be worrying about star players or a shot at winning a national championship. You should worry about actually making the tournament first. Your last elite 8 was almost 20 years ago...
Your last Final Four was 1980. Your last championship was never. When does the aforementioned become a concern? When does poor recruiting become a concern?
As a supposed attorney, I would have thought you were taught to get the facts straight. I realize that you do not like it but Purdue was awarded a national championship, in the same manner as UNC and Kansas. They recognize it even though you do not. I do not understand why Purdue cannot but they can, other than pique on your part.
But then again, you did assure everyone here that Purdue would never advance past the S16 under Painter and we know how accurate that statement turned out to be.

The Helms, lol. Northwestern has a more recent bakery championship than PU. UNC and Kansas have won real championships.
Isn't it true that PU has never won an NCAA championship or been past the Elite 8 since 1980? Isn't it true that Matt Painter struggles to recruit big names?

It amazes with the hot mess IU basketball is; missed the NCAA tournament 2 years in a row now. Had a 6 or 7 whatever game losing streak. Then IU fans worrying about Purdue not getting to the Final 4 or what Purdue ceiling is. IU fans need to worry about what IU's basement is.
