President Trump's Executive Actions (orders, proclamations, etc.)

Well, yes. Spending money that wasn't authorized to be spent is different than not spending money that was authorized to be spent.

Keep in mind that the "not spending" parts that we're seeing at this point in time are pauses, or freezes. Laws do often empower the executive branch to do that -- which is distinct from wholesale impoundment (which is permanent).

While POTUS used to have wide latitude for impoundment (and I think it would be great if they got it back....whatever the party of the Congress or president), Congress limited it by statute. That particular law has never survived judicial review. And I'm sure it will come up in the courts as they review all this.

But even the Biden Administration didn't argue that they could spend money that Congress never authorized. They argued Congress did authorize it in the HEROES Act. The argument just didn't prevail in court.
Yes, Biden was trying to argue it was within the law.

Trump doesn't even care what is legal or not. Just do and dare someone to stop him.

Some transparency seems like the minimum. Weird that people would want to know what's going on. Shame on them.

Like I said, I personally don't feel like I don't know what's going on. I feel like I know more about what's going on than I normally do with government initiatives and programs. We're getting daily updates on what they're finding. How common is that?

But you certainly have the right to disagree with that.

probably because the people getting fired are going to the media.

What exactly are we getting from the other side? False accusations of malfeasance and we are just supposed to buy that?

You're falling for the hype machine, Hurrying. They will be making arguments in court over all this. I don't know what will and won't make it through. But I do know that executives typically have a lot of latitude to act within the executive branch. Because presidents basically *are* the executive branch.

Just stay tuned. It'll all work its way through and I have confidence in the courts to do their jobs properly.

Be specific. You’re not saying anything. What is going on that you’re unaware of. Be mindful the Dems concealed the actual condition of the president for years and apptd his successor without a public vote. I’d argue we’re seeing unprecedented transparency. Might it just be you don’t like who is doing it?

Daily updates that started on 2/12? More like grist for the mill. Please point to the tweet that should be inspiring us. You don't even know who is running DOGE.

What difference does it make. He’s sge purportedly calling the shots. If it’s somehow running afoul of the apptmts clause it can be cured

Let him cook. We might get shit done for once

I've been seeing information longer than that -- virtually all of which has been reported in the press, too. But I prefer to get it straight from them. No reason to have a middleman.

I think that date only applies to the website.

So you specifically condone DOGE's secret operations and vague mandate because the Dems propped up a corpse? why?

again, we were told by our president that Musk and Ramsaway would be leading DOGE. Why the about face?

To be clear, this was the Executive Order:

Section 1. Purpose. This Executive Order establishes the Department of Government Efficiency to implement the President’s DOGE Agenda, by modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity.

He's a remarkable dude. I had no issues with Musk until he entered government, but now he gets what he gets

Has anything been proposed other than extending the TCJA provisions that are scheduled to sunset this year? My recollection is that the individual income tax provisions sunset in 2025 while the corporate ones sunset in 2028.

Ah, I looked this up. How could I forget?

In addition to the extension of TCJA's sunsetting policies, Trump is proposing eliminating tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits.

I was being thrown off by the whole "millionaires and billionaires" thing.

What operations are secret?

Substance? We can't even get a crudely drawn outline from this administration. No feasible goal, no actionable plan, zero transparency
Follow the money is the goal and plan. So is looking at efficiency in performing agency purpose. Seems pretty staight forward to me.

Only those heavily invested in bureaucratic mumbo jumbo rely on outlines and plans.

You have a problem with the National Security Act of 1947?

That’s a good question, but I think there are better examples of your point than the NSC. According to the reporting I’ve seen, Biden ignored the NSC with his Afghanistan withdrawal. Even worse, the weasels he appointed to it didn’t stand up to him. So what authority does it have anyway?

There are non-cabinet level agencies whose heads require senate confirmation. I would say a president can’t eliminate those. But all agency processes, procedures, and rules are fair game.

What operations are secret?

Probably easier to list the few thing they are doing out in the open.

For starters, what criteria is being used to layoff federal employees? What is the rationale behind cutting programs beyond nebulous declarations of cost cutting and deep statedness? These seem like fair questions to ask. In your words, wish they would be specific.

But, for today, I'd just like to know the name of the government administrator who is running DOGE.

Performance. If that’s unfounded the courts will intercede. Cost cutting isn’t nebulous.

welp, DOGE is coming off like a crew that is just winging it, so it's not a shocker their proponents would think it's a good plan not to have a plan. what a disaster.

You won't have these answers. No one outside of DOGE does. We could ask their administrator but we don't know who that is....

35 trillion in debt and 35 million in poverty. That’s the rationale. Our gov isn’t working. 50 years of joe Biden’s. Not the answer.

I already answered re discharge. PERFORMANCE. Now maybe the court will declare same pretensive and they’ll have to go through the red tape RIF process. That’s fine.

Now tell me about the secret operations. Third time asked

It’s not possible that every probationary employee was a poor performer. If that’s the argument they’re making it’s very stupid one and it’s immediately undermined by the fact they’re trying to recall the nuclear safety employees they fired.

Here’s the truth. You’re a lefty. You view gov and its role differently. The side you don’t like won and is taking a flamethrower to what you do like. Now you’re butt hurt. I get it. If Dems won and soros came in expanding gov making changes with Doj and on and on I’d be butt hurt too. It’s a shame we can’t work together to get things done but as crazed properly noted the priors have and do nothing. We FINALLY have someone willing to do what no one else is. And I love it. And maybe it will be a total disaster and we learn we need all that shot we cut. The next admin will be there to fill it. No difft than oh shit letting ten million cross the border wasn’t a good idea

I don’t care about people so new they’re on probation. Biden expanded the shit out of the size of gov. Padding new jobs created

third time I've answered: why are they specially firing who they are firing and why are they specifically cutting the programs they are cutting? If they are working out in the open, I think we can get more detail than your "35 trill, 35 mill" answer.

why aren't they showing their work? or when they do, why is it always some condoms-to-Gaza bullshit?

and, again, who is administering this disaster and why hasn't that person been identified by this admin? f*cking weird.

The people are new though they might have been on the job for months, but the billets they’re hired into aren’t.

Your justification for less transparency is Dems and Soros? why?

What’s fcking weird? Musk is a SGE and obviously leading the charge. Time is of the essence. Should this violate apptmts maybe. Apptmt some seat filler. What difference. As for cuts discretionary, dei, office space, leases. I think you’re letting bias cloud your perception to engender conspiratorial shit

I’ve read your posts before. I’m not assuming anything. You’re getting gov transparency. Did you ask for it when Biden was concealed. Harris coronated? Link those posts. Thank you.

Mischaracterizing anything I said re soros and transparency. We are finally actually getting transparency in gov

weird to wonder who the admin is overseeing mass federal layoffs and program cuts? would seem weirder not to want to know or to think it doesn't matter.

bias? again, one has to be biased to wonder what the f*ck is going on with the federal government. that's some bizarro world sh*t right there.

You read my non-existent posts? anyone asking for specifics on DOGE or even wanting to know who is running it was automatically okay with Biden's corpse? what's your line of thinking there. Be specific. Use your own words. yada yada yada.

You’re just emoting. It’s Musk. We’ve told you. No whatever token person apptd otherwise Is of little moment. Musk is leading the charge. Youve been told this. It’s not a secret.

It’s 35 trillion in debt. The last president had mushy peas for a brain and couldn’t speak to the public. And now you’re worried what is going on with the fed gov?

Musk is running it. They are going after discretionary, dei, contracts, leases, office space and going agency by agency within the executive branch.

Don’t you love this unprecedented transparency?

And for the last time, these cuts will be next to meaningless when all is said and done. Especially when congress claws back many of these positions being eliminated. Firing people is fun until it impacts your neighbor. These are real people and there will be trickle down impacts.

Want to impress? Have the balls to go after healthcare, social security, and defense. I'm still waiting for this big beautiful replacement to Obamacare.

These cuts won't mean spit to cutting into the debt. But the haphazard way they are being done will impact everything from cancer research to our National Parks.

It’s our money. None of it is meaningless. Trump just said his goal is to cut defense in half. Social security is doable.

Healthcare I’m less optimistic. I don’t know how or what that looks like. There are so many hands in that jar
