Polls - - a week out

The disagreement on this revolves around what is timely. No matter your stance, that is what has to be defined.
I'd say postmarked 5 business days before election day for a cutoff. If someone cares that much about their vote they'll either mail it early enough or show up if they don't.

Military would be the only reasonable exception for late ballots.

At some point personal responsibility has to factor in to the equation.

In this particular case, I agree.

My larger frustration is the thing that moved me away from being a solid R vote years ago (pre Trump even). It’s that every case or story regarding limiting or preventing people from voting always comes from the Rs. It’s the comments in the Twitter link DMB posted where Rs are spiking the football because people’s votes won’t be counted.

If the Rs put a fraction of the effort they use for voter suppression to winning votes, not only would they win more races but the party and country would be infinitely better. One thing I do know, there is zero chance of that ever happening as long as Trump is leading the party. He needs to go now and the party needs to do better.

Dbm. First good morning. I want to thank you as well. During this national disaster known as the Biden/Harris administration I’ve been preoccupied with recruiting, enlisting, training, and guiding a collection of men capable of fighting, surviving, and thriving should the reckoning come and sides be chosen

You on the other hand kept our light of hope shining, acting as a filter through the noise of bad information and misinformation to get us the news we needed to know that all was not lost, that not all the country was woke, that many still believed we could make America great again: names like Pose, Catturd, and now that prodigy Daughtry.

From The Dream Team to you we thank you for these past four years. It’s all on the line today. Good vs evil. Dbm/Bailey, the good guys, vs bad like bowl and cosmic. God speed Dbm. The day is here 🙏

I think people are generally uninformed and uninformed voters are dangerously bad. I know that isn't super Populist of me and this will hurt feelings, but I don't want morons voting. And frankly, the basement level requirements that Republicans want to put in around the vote are a way to weed out the least informed of us.

I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing (and frankly neither did the Founders, they were pretty restrictive on who they wanted voting too....)

ETA: This doesn't necessarily apply to the Georgia thing we are talking about thought, just saying in general that if you can't do things like get an ID, I don't consider that voter suppression, I consider it a way to weed out people who probably shouldn't be voting to begin with.

If the uninformed didn’t vote, Trump would have no chance at all. I linked a poll somewhere in the Harris vs Trump thread that showed the admittedly uninformed but plan to vote demographic mostly plan to vote for Trump. I guess they’ve heard of him. 😏

I know people are uninformed. My guess is that if you brought up the border, a major issue, less than 5 percent of voters know about title 42 remain in Mexico asylum agreements. To this day we have posters here, on a political board, who think soros is a bogeyman. They have no idea what a 990 is, that all of that flow of money gets reported and you can look it up in under a minute. It’s the same line items on every form. They think that if trump filed lawsuits for voter fraud it must be real. They don’t know you can go down to the courthouse and file anything. Attnys fees awards are by statute and contract otherwise dogshit is filed with zero consequences thousands of times daily

We have a terribly uninformed electorate- and that probably is why we have terrible candidates who instead of fleshing out policy bring out celebs and say look you like Beyoncé she likes me. Hulk hogan is a real American and so am i

Online at least, the main motivation for young Black men who are voting for Trump seems to be he is going to send them another stimulus check...

I support voter ID. I’m talking about limited voting locations in the most populous Indiana county. I’m talking about not having a voting location on campus at Purdue (which was rectified). There is a big difference in voting integrity and making it harder for those who don’t vote the way you want them to.

Democrats don't have a monopoly on educated and informed voters. I would say the dumassery is probably about equal on both sides.

Percentiles make it highly unlikely that your IQ is as high as mine. You'd have to be Mensa level to have a higher one. They are 98 percentile people which is admittedly a tick better than my percentile. Are you in Mensa? :) You know I'm messing with you, but I do actually know my IQ because they used to do IQ tests in elementary school when I was a kid. I've had two of those tests (results within a couple points both times) and I don't think they have done those tests for everyone for decades. You probably never had one. Did you? it's a serious question this time.

Used to be that Republicans got the majority of the college educated vote. Democrats would get the majority of the postgrad educated, but that's a smaller percentage than those with an undergrad. Things have flipped and Democrats are getting the majority of the college educated across the board. I personally don't like this change much. I seriously don't like that poll which shows that people that are admittedly unknowledgeable and uninformed about the candidates are largely voting for Trump. I'm not advocating that there be some sort of test for voter eligibility, but it's a disturbing thing.

All 5 of them voted for Haley in the GOP Primary. Rather than look at events from 4 yrs ago you might want to look at the fact that at least 2 Haley voters voted for Harris. If that becomes a trend across the country, Trump is burnt orange toast...
I remember that. Good point.

You are so uninformed you don’t even know all the things you don’t know. Your knowledge is a mile deep and an inch wide from the military. I’ve represented cops. Criminals. Sat through countless dockets. Understand our criminal Justice system. Understand bonds. How woke policies impact commubity safety. Why we have bonds etc. I’ve sued doctors and hospitals. Been exposed to insurance coverage. Denials. Hospital systems. Healthcare systems. Doctors standards of care. Handled claims in front of aljs at the state and fed level. Know how agencies operate. Social security. Unemployment. Workers comp. Run and handled business litigation. Formed businesses. Understand how the 20 percent pass through will impact businesses. Taxes. Public sector. Private. Nonprofits. Funding. I have exposure and experience to so much of society and the impact of Harris that you have no idea about. You’re limited to your military he’s “unfit.” Your breadth of knowledge is painfully low. Arrogance high. Knowledge low. Out at sea on a boat literally and figuratively

Compared to when? 1990? The change in demographics is a major reason for the shift. The GOP does poorly with women and minorities who now make up a larger percentage of the college educated vote than 1990.

The university I went to was fairly unbiased. At least at the time. Probably more conservative leaning but not obvious. How it should be.

LOL! You're so easily triggered. Also, a ship is not a boat. Anyone with a high IQ would know that.

No, the shift actually happened in 2016 when Trump came on the scene and all the demographics changed.

You're not an IU grad? I went to IU. Considered myself liberal at the time because I grew up in a Democratic family, but I eventually realized I was far more conservative than liberal and eventually shifted my registration to Republican. College certainly didn't brain wash me. I think most people are too smart to be brainwashed.

You didn't answer my question. Did you have an IQ test? I'm guessing you didn't and you're just assuming you have a high IQ. I think it's likely higher than average, but not very likely that it's as high as you think. I know what mine is.

Nope. The GOP struggled with women and minority voters prior to Trump. Also, women make up a larger percentage of college graduates today than they did in 2016. Those are both facts Aloha. Trying to ascribe it all to Trump/MAGA is wrong.

No I couldn’t give two shits what it is. I’ve never taken one. What I do know from reading your posts and your experience profile your breadth of knowledge could fit on my fingernail compared to me. I have considerably more formal education than you and the breadth of my professional experience trounces your limited experience. You don’t understand nuance, etc. you’re a rigid tunnel thinker with a limited knowledge base

I went to USI in Evansville. Grew up and IU basketball and football fan. It was between USI and IU. Came down to $$$

And given their propensity to vote we are in real danger of our government becoming increasingly feminized over the next few decades. We've seen this in the U.K. to disastrous effect. The irony of course being that the only politicians in the U.K. with any balls (Truss, Braverman, Thatcher) are actually women.

We shouldn't take away women's right to vote here in the states, but perhaps their are mechanisms to lessen their influence for the betterment of the Republic.

Lot of reports of the Amish voting heavily in PA. Shapiro really shouldn't have tried to bankrupt Amish farmer Amos Miller.

Just as I expected. You're IQ is highly unlikely to be anywhere close to what you assume it is. As far as education goes, I have two Masters and would qualify for a third in Engineering if the Navy bothered to apply for accreditation for the Engineering course I took. I assume law school is extremely easy. After all, dbm claims to be a lawyer. ;)

My experience is extremely wide and deep. I have had people like you work for me while in the Navy and in my civilian job. I've hired Doctorates. Many of them.

I hope you're bringing up actual facts rather than misinformation. There's a ton of misinformation out there these days.
