The average age of the American soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago today was 22 years of age. That was truly our greatest generation.

My son's best friend and room mate is at Arlington today covering the funeral of a local 96 year old man that passed away. Here is the article he wrote about Carl Mann. The average age of the American soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago today was 22 years of age. I sometimes wonder had I been born in 1922 instead of 1949, how I would have performed during WWII. That generation set the bar incredibly high. The average age of the American soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago today was 22 years of age. Yep. The United States of Pussies. Oh and if that “offends” you then you should prolly read it again and think about it.It's amazing how far we've fallen.

The man took part in the Normandy landing and is being buried on the 75th anniversary, Great story about an incredible person.
Did a bit of tear shedding myself. Very moving article. From the article, and thank you very much iubud for sharing it, it brought tears to me....
This is it here:
"On the 75th anniversary of D-Day, it’s important to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who secured freedom for all of us."
I agree about our current warriors. However, they are a small minority of the current generations who have all VOLUNTARILY entered military service.Fallen? Kids today are doing a helluva job fighting the unwinnable wars we keep pushing them into.......
He is a sports journalist like my son. They don't work for the same place. It is a tight group of TV, radio and print journalists here that all hang out together. After covering high school sports and turning in their stories or broadcasts, they meet at a watering hole to talk about the games. What a great story!
Tell your son’s roommate he’s a very talented writer.
try telling black americans that was our greatest generationThe average age of the American soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago today was 22 years of age. That was truly our greatest generation.
support our troops. bring them home and keep them homeFallen? Kids today are doing a helluva job fighting the unwinnable wars we keep pushing them into.......
well that should depend. are they being asked to get involved in a civil war that is none of our business or invade and destroy a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and in the process slaughter thousands of innocent people? or are they being asked to save the world from a megalomaniac despot? our children should not be expected to give their lives to support the military industrial complexI agree about our current warriors. However, they are a small minority of the current generations who have all VOLUNTARILY entered military service.
How will these generations react if there is a major crisis and the government has to re-institute the draft? Will they rush to enlist like the greatest generation did or will they rush out of the country to avoid the draft?
Wow what a shitty responsetry telling black americans that was our greatest generation

largest kkk rally ever was held, of course, in indiana. last public lynching north of the mason-dixon line...marion inRemember that this is Washington DC 16 years before World War II:
I'm sure you are replying to someone I have ignored, but did someone question or need affirmation of who was included in the greatest generation? Americans (and non citizens) of all races, sexes, and religions contributed in WWII.I include the black Americans who proudly served as being part of the greatest generation.
Geez man you sound like a fn black supremicist. You know it is possible to be racist to people other than blacks right? You turned a comment celebrating the WW2 vets into poor black people talk. Smh what a fn bitch move. Go whine about the poor black people somewhere else boylargest kkk rally ever was held, of course, in indiana. last public lynching north of the mason-dixon line...marion in
and how were they treated at home by white america?I include the black Americans who proudly served as being part of the greatest generation.
If there is a clear threat like WW2, they line up. If it’s BS like pretty much every war since, they resist. As it should be.
Do you know the Greatest Generation we’re also considered lazy punks by their depression-era parents?
Saying the next generation is going to fail is pretty ridiculous...

June 6, 1941? It was June 6, 1944. Get the date right.I understand where you’re coming from and I agree with you. There are still a lot of inequities out there. But they are slowly, and I mean slowly being stripped away.
Here’s some trivia. On March 6 of this year 29 Americans were killed in this country by gun violence. That marked more Americans being killed by guns then were killed on June 6, 1941 at the Normandie invasion. There is still a lot of work to be done.
Especially since Normandy happened on June 6, 1944 . . .I understand where you’re coming from and I agree with you. There are still a lot of inequities out there. But they are slowly, and I mean slowly being stripped away.
