Think every single game today

CFP Final Team Selection Count

SEC -5
Big Ten - 3
ACC - 1
Big 12 - 1
Notre Dame
Group of 5 - 1
Looks like there could easily be 6 teams in the SEC that will finish the regular season with 2 losses. The SEC championship game will give one of them a 3rd loss so I could see the committee looking at the 5- two loss teams but will they pull the trigger?
IU needs to make a good showing next weekend to remove any doubt they belong. Just Win Baby!!
Go Hoosiers
82

A&M will still likely get beat by Texas which should definitively knock them out…

Wanted Georgia to go down... What's hilarious is Tennessee fans prior to the game complaining about the officiating they'd see in Athens, and it proved true. LOL Dog's hind leg down there.

Many of the B1G games went the opposite of how I was hoping too. Mich State lost at Illinois, Nebraska lost at USC, Maryland lost at home to Rugters. Ohio State over Northwestern is fine.

I think we'd be 70-75% to get in at 11-1. But come on Hoosiers, let's take that out of the committee's hands.

This will be fun! Beat the Buckeyes!

They want to put upwards of 6 teams from the SEC into the CFP and will be making a lot of noise for this in the next two weeks.
When I saw the article on X this morning why 4 loss LSU needs CFP consideration, I had to laugh. A LOT of SEC media is already pushing BS this morning after yesterday's results. Lets see how quiet the UT fans are this week on X posts related to IU Football.

If we lose Saturday the only way I think we get in is if Penn St loses at Minnesota and I don’t see that happening.
Unlike FSU last year who also had a weak SOS, someone one pointed out to me yesterday ... there are 12 teams this year instead of 4. Even if IU loses Saturday (I think they win that game) I don't see IU being left out of the CFP.

South Carolina? Sagarin has it rated 10, and above IU and Bama. At 3 losses.
good to see another Sagarin follower. I still like that poll the best out of all the polls. It shows SC's SOS #5 ... but didn't the scUM AD say last week when asked about SOS, that on field performance was worth more than SOS in deciding the 12 teams after after conference champions? I think my old brain cells remember that.

Hard to fathom a loss at #2 drops #5 past 11-12 unless we just get dragged up and down the field all game long. I will be watching how much the teams that lost yesterday move for the precedent. If they don't drop 10+ spots there would seemingly be no precedent for IU to drop that far in the event of a loss by say 17 points give or take.

The problem that a loss at Ohio State gives us is not losing to number two at number two. It will be said that Ohio State is the only good team we played all year and they beat us. I can absolutely see us, if we were to finish 11 and one with that one loss being to Ohio State, being kept out of the playoffs.

Name 12 teams better than us.

I understand the logic behind what you’re saying, but what you’re not accounting for or not understanding is that actually being slotted at #5 at this point in the CFP rankings gives us more of a cushion. They don’t start from scratch each week, it’s a progression. Unless we get embarrassed by OSU we’re likely to be in. All the other noise shouldn’t matter.

Hope you are correct.

Well, UGA fell 9 spots from 3 to 12 after losing to #10 Ole Miss on the road 28-10.

So if IU loses in the same manner, we could drop 7-8 spots. Then our last game against PU won't gain us anything while teams below us could have better competition in their last game.

I can't, but that doesn't matter because they don't take the top 12 teams. There are a lot more bid stealers than I'd expected. The ACC, B12, and G5 all get at least one bid and ND will apparently get a bid unless they lose to Army.

With those 4 bids gone, we'd have to stay in the top 8, which will be tough if no one else loses. Texas can hand out two more 3rd losses to SEC teams, which would help us a ton. It would also help if Miami wins the ACC. There is a chance the ACC gets two bids if Miami misses the ACC championship game. They are tied for 2nd right now, kinda in the same boat as us, except they don't play the team they are tied with and I dunno what their tiebreakers are.

I think we need one more SEC (or ND or PSU) upset somewhere along the way, or we need Texas to win out and Miami to win the ACC.

Or we could just beat OSU. That would make us a lock, and could possibly vault us to the 1 line. Whether it did or not, we'd be playing for the top overall seed in the Big championship game against Oregon.

So, let's go shut 'em up and win.
