Painter owns Archie.

You are all missing the obvious. It's Tommy Luce, the walk on senior guard is the first Boiler to play 4 years and never lose to IU. He's now permanently in the record books. lol
IU had an entire class of students go through school and not beat Purdue in basketball. That’s pretty depressing.

don’t forget an entire class of East coast students have gone through IU without seeing us beat Purdue in basketball.

And Midwestern kids, and Indiana kids, and California kids, and Illinois kids and Ohio kids, and Turkish kids, and Japanese kids . . . Fred should have to apologize to each one of them after they’re awarded their diplomas.

7 straight losses to Purdue and so many think we’re in a great spot. This is so embarrassing.

Please end your misery ASAP.

I'll chip in for a free plane ticket to Wuhan for you, if you need to get away.

There are plenty of examples of coaches struggling to beat their rival early on.

Belien didn’t beat Izzo until his 4th season.
Izzo started 0-6 vs. Michigan.
Coach K started 0-8 vs. Dean Smith

Not comparing Miller or Painter to any of those guys. Just saying it often takes time for even the best coaches to right the ship.

Miller will not get fired next year after never having beaten Purdue. He’ll get a fifth year.
Losing to good Purdue teams is nothing to be ashamed about. I don’t think you are giving them enough credit. They have been good the last few years, and tonight they played inspired basketball. Ultimately, we will earn a tournament spot and they won’t. Isn’t that all that matters? Historically, the tournament is how Indiana basketball is measured.

Hope you're right. Think we beat Minny @ home but Wiscy will be a struggle. & well we know how Archie does in B1G tournament. Think 20 wins get us in but 19 maybe first 4 in Dayton??

Oh please.....
This isn’t even a good Purdue team. We just happen to be worse.
What is the measuring stick here?

A first round loss in the tourney? Everyone has a celebration. We made the tourney!

it’s unbelievable that people actually think IU is even remotely relevant in college basketball. If we are “measured” by the tourney, then throw away the measuring tape because we’ve done nothing.

19 is likely the number given the quality of wins we have amassed. We also have no bad losses.

They’re 15-14 after tonight and, just like a few weeks ago, they controlled the game. They’re clearly the better team in what is a very down year for them.

Once again for emphasis: They’re a very average team and they controlled IU in their second consecutive and convincing win over us this year. Without the early cupcake schedule, IU wouldn’t have a record worthy of tournament consideration. Objectively, we’re about the 10th or 11th best team in a 14 team conference. In Miller’s third year. That’s not good.

Purdue was ranked 26 on KemPom before the game. It’s amazing that you can spin getting into the tournament as a bad thing.

At this point, it’s just putting lipstick on a pig. There was a day and age when making the tourney was considered the absolute bare minimum. Now, it’s some grand achievement. Well done Archie!

Purdue is a well coached basketball team, and they out played us this year. We have played the 15 toughest schedule in the nation, and it’s going to increase after the final three games. Getting into the tournament will be earned.

Purdue isn’t “well coached.” Painter is average.
