One More Year!!

We threw everything we could at Donovan but he said no and that was before the nba. He’s not going to come back to college unless it’s a desperate move or someone we’re to throw 12 mil a yr at him. Plus I think other teams in the nba would offer him a deal. He’s making the playoffs so I wouldn’t be getting my hopes up on him departing from the nba anytime soon

I dont like that I cant name a single thing in the IU program that Archie has improved...
People say Defense - but its at the expense of the offense...
Offense sucks.
Out of timeouts we suck.
Game management and use of timeouts sucks.
Players have not developed in any notable capacity.
Wasted Romeo’s only and Juwan’s senior season.
Recruiting - there are 2 scholarship HS seniors willing to come play for IU next year - TJD and a local 3 star.

I was ok w the Archie hire at the time...but his two years, and looking ahead to year 3, have been a very poor performance.

It's quite clear you don't understand college basketball, at all.

You just seem like a beer swilling guy that wants to be entertained, and you aren't getting it.

All these experience guys - you mean Green and Smith - the 2 guys the Archie Apologists were begging to be sent transfer packing?
Or Durham and Smith - the two guys that ‘were Crean recruits’ that Archie should have never excepted?

You Apologists crack me up...
Try DD and Green.

I’ve been telling you for years that it takes about half of all good coaches a few years to get it going but you don’t listen, douche.
Well half don’t take over IU.

It didn’t take Cal, Roy, Self, etc very long at blue bloods. Now it may take longer to turn around Penn St.

Thats my thought on how long to give a coach too...
If you get a proven winner, like RBarnes, Mark Few, Donovan, Pearl(not that i want) then maybe they get a longer leash...theyve proven success at the highest level.
If your taking a risk w a low level guy like Archie, there’s no sense in waiting til Year 5 or so, when year 1 and 2 have shown enough. Go ahead w year 3 for optics to the next coach, fine...
but Archie knew he was taking a risk stepping up to top D1...just as IU knew there was a risk in hiring Archie...and it just hasnt panned out successfully for either.

Its all falling into place...Football is now selling beer and wine - can buy out Archies contract after missing 3 straight tourneys - and afford to tempt Donovan to come back to college...

Tick...tick...tick...tick...tick...
You can get drunk after another home loss in football. And you can now have money to buy out Allen and actually do a nation-wide football coach search this time.

Fascinating to watch it play out.

The obvious scenarios: Next 2 years make the tourney and get to sweet 16 Archie has some time. Next 2 years miss the tourney and enough will be enough.

What if:

1) He misses the tourney and next year is similar to this year? Is he guaranteed a year 4 no matter what?

2) He makes the tourney, say sweet 16, next year but misses in year 4?

I'm sure this will turn into Painter/Purdue bashing but I'm just looking at the IU situation from the opinions I see on here. Probably not the typical fan opinion though. Similar in some ways to watching the Harbaugh situation in Michigan, different but similar.

no, you give him years 3 and 4 because sometimes it takes that long to get going. but you'd be the AD who fired Beilein and Wright. We get it.

And you’d be the AD who kept Gilispie while missing Cal, kept Doherty while missing Roy, and kept Crean while missing on Stevens.
