has an unranked IU team defeated #6 on the road. For all the negative posts reminding IU fans about the loss to Fort Wayne and other IU firsts under Coach Miller, the game last night also set him apart as an IU coach. Archie's team accomplished (and it was an accomplishment, not a fluke as the team had to fight start to finish) something no Crean, Davis, Sampson or Dakich coached team was able to do at IU.

We won a few road games against top ten teams under Crean. Happened during the 12-13 season.

What , exactly, was Mike Davis’s record at I.U. And, what is it in total now. Sure was a great guy to talk to to. If Bobby Knight had tried to make it a little easier on Mike Davis, things would have gone a little better for him and if Knight and Scott May had given better advice to Hastings and Sean May, maybe we would not be in the hole we keep trying to dig ourselves out of. Bitter old men have hurt us.

Nothing wrong with positivity.

However, to be perfectly fair, it would be easy to argue that IU should have won 3 of the previous 7 and in doing so, still be ranked.

Well there’s never anything good about being unranked. We shouldn’t even be in that position very often.

Oh, I can think of GOOD coming from a few unranked teams stealing a 2 or 3 seed in the tournament by knocking off a highly ranked team. Not predicting anything of the sort for this IU team but my initial post was intended to point out something Archie and his team just accomplished that many other unranked IU teams have not. And I'll say again . . . not a fluke . . . it is not like IU trailed by 25 and miraculously hit 90% from three. IU was with MSU (even holding a lead in the first half) for the full 40 plus OT.

In a previous post I expressed how disappointed I am with this IU basketball season. Regardless of the eventual outcome, I think it will still be disappointing overall; however, that is based solely on my own preseason expectations (which admittedly were much too lofty).

Or we could look up the last time Purdue Men's Basketball won a National Championship that wasn't like a unicorn or hot Purdue co-ed...i.e. mythical
